Chapter: 18- Gracefully Pulled back into Reality
❤Sarah's POV❤
I already knew today was different when I woke up and I did something I hadn't done in a while. Dragging myself out of bed I searched through my closet, when I pulled out my normal pair of jeans and a t-shirt I quickly pulled them on, finding myself looking in the full length mirror I had in front of my closet door, something I hadn't really done since I'd first started dating James about a month ago.
It was a good month, James and I had grown closer, and now you couldn't really see us in the halls of the school without the other there as well. And if I was closer to James, I was undoubtedly closer to his friends as well, and yes that did include Ty. But unlike James, I unfortunately hadn't had the privilege of meeting his family yet, though I was still coming to the conclusion of if that was a good or a bad thing. I mean even now my family is still in love with James and they've even resorted to begging me to ask him to come over the last few weekends.
It was sort of annoying, considering that I really wanted to spend time of my own with him, but I couldn't lie and say I wasn't pleased that my family loved him. It was a blessing to me since I knew for a fact that some people didn't have the grace of an accepting family in regards to their choice of a boyfriend so I was lucky I guess. But lately I'd also realized that I hadn't really been feeling unattractive.
You know? Around James for some reason I never really felt my thoughts straying towards how my body looked, and what he thought of me. He always made me feel wanted, like I was beautiful and that nothing really mattered, it was a wonderful neutral feeling, and I absolutely yearned for him because he gave it to me. And that leads to me now, without James around I was once again plagued with the ideas brewing around my mind about my body.
Looking in the mirror I saw how my hips were too wide, my shape was curvy, but I had too many rolls in my opinion, my thighs too big, and I didn't even have a thigh gap. My upper arms were flabby and they wiggled with the littlest movement, not to mention that my tummy definitely was a little too jiggly on it's own with a slight pouch I wasn't exactly proud of. Looking sideways in the mirror, I winced at how wide I looked, instead turning again to look back at the front of my body. Lifting up my shirt I took a moment to self loathe just how my body looked.
