Chapter: 17- Oh Brother
❤Sarah's POV❤
I sat beside Sam on the couch, irritated that he'd stolen my seat beside James, while he just sat there like a brick wall, glaring at James while simultaneously blocking my view of him. Besides that I was mad that mom had told James that she couldn't wait until we had children, I mean dang, I was sixteen, we'd barely been dating a week, and we weren't even married. Someone needed to tell her to slow down.
Dad was sitting beside me instead, quietly observing everything that was happening while staring back and forth from me to James. James, who was currently sitting awkwardly beside my brother, his gaze focused on things around the room as he nervously twiddled his thumbs.
"How old are you?" Everyone's gaze snapped to Sam, shocked that he'd been the first one to break the silence, but he hadn't dared relaxed his stiff position or soften the death glare he had on James. Nope, good 'ole Samuel was way too crazy for that.
James, the poor guy, seemed thrown off by the question, gawking at Sam before closing and opening his mouth a couple of times. Repeating this, he finally stopped, licking his lips, and no matter how much I tried to convince myself it wasn't the right time to be feeling this way, I couldn't help but feel my cheeks getting hot as I realized just how attractive that was. "Uh, um, seventeen?" Somehow his answer came out sounding like a question, and that was enough to snap me out of my thoughts.
God, he really was nervous, more so than I'd originally thought. Dang it, if I'd known this was going to freak him out this bad I would've had my parents reschedule the meeting until he was more comfortable. But then again I could only imagine how he's feeling right now, I mean it's not like I've met his family or anything. ...I'm not sure if I even want to meet his family or not, like what would they think of me? As the fat girl who somehow got the opportunity to date James most likely.
"What, are you, or are you not seventeen?" Sam rudely asked his question, glaring at James the whole time, and not even seeming to care about it. I saw Franny lightly hit his arm as if to prove my point and whisper something to him, but it was said too low, where I couldn't hear what she said.
"I-I am seventeen, just a little...nervous is all." Clearing his throat, I gazed at James until his green eyes met my own, giving him a little smile of encouragement before I looked to see my brother still being unfair and sticking to the stereotypical image of an over-protective older brother. He looked a sight to behold, his arms crossed over his wider chest, gaze glaring at James, as his expression never changed. Sighing I shook my head as Franny was still lowly whispering to him, and instead focused my gaze on my parents, who were smilingly looking over everything.
Well at least my mother was smiling as she looked at everything playing out. "What's with all the tattoos?" Sam barely masked his disdain at the topic, carelessly dropping a bomb with a straight face that never changed. I was just glad that Franny hit him before I ended up doing it myself, like seriously who did that? My mouth was open in shock, watching as Franny repeatedly smacked Sam lightly on the shoulder while snapping at him.
"Seriously? Really Samuel, did you really have to say that, you know how rude that is?" Smacking his shoulder some more, I watched, used to their bickering as Sam cowered lightly, grinning a little at his wife's antics.
"What! I- I was just asking a genuine question! It's not like anyone isn't interested in it as well! Chelse! Please, stop hitting me!" But Franny didn't stop, and everyone watched on in amusement as finally Sam had enough, pulling her down onto his lap and grabbing both of her wrists in his own. Leaning down into her face he fake glared at her, before speaking. "I told you to stop woman, now I'm going to have to punish you." Winking at everyone in the room as Franny once again hit Sam, crying out his name in embarrassment as her cheeks tinted red, I just laughed at them.
