'Please let me go.'
The cell was just a box for a human. There wasn't anything else except for the stone-hard bed and the bucket. The bars were really thick, and I knew I couldn't break any of those. And behind me, was this foot wide square hole with the same iron bars on it, where daylight was streaming through it.
I was scared, cold and alone. I wanted to be back with my family. A man stood against the wall with his arms crossed and a foot propped up. Because of the darkness, I can't see any of his physical features except his broad shoulders. He laughed as if my plea was a comical joke. 'You have nowhere to go. This is your home. You will become nothing but a dog to those that pay a huge price. It will range from thugs to soldiers to even higher authorities. There is no objections or running away. If you try, you will be punished accordingly. You are nothing down here and you will never be.'
"Saichi you can't keep acting like this!"
"How about you leave me alone you self-righteous bastard?!"
I lost consciousness before we could get through the walls. I had to have my leg checked out at the hospital. When I woke up, Mike told me the bodies we were once traveling with were dumped so we could lose a Titan trailing us. Petra Ral, Oluo Bozado, Eld Gin and Gunther Schultz have passed on. I have nothing to show for it. No physical body, nothing to give to their families.
The feeling that washed over me was indescribable. I wish I could call it sadness or anger but it felt like a combination of both. I felt so honored to have them as subordinates but...why? I felt my body twitch and heat up. I began to remember my grudge from long ago. This is Furlan and Isabel all over again. Mike crosses over to sniff me then makes a verbal sound full of dissatisfaction. "She still smells like a feline, Erwin. Hange's speculation could be right."
What did this bastard say? Erwin tries to reach out to me but I slap him away. "I said leave me alone! You're dead to me!" He grabs me by my face and forces me up. "Erwin! Let me go!"
I clench his wrist, digging my nails into his skin. Why does this feel familiar? "I remember that look of rebellion from anywhere. What is it now? You blame me for what happened to your Elite Squad?"
"You arrogant piece of shit," I say through my teeth, shoving him away. I look behind me and pick up an old vase and throw it toward him. He moves away in time to let the glass shatter against the wall. "You think you do well by everyone when actuality you're killing everyone who serves under you, one by one! How dare you even try to stand above me like you're the winner. You're not. Your plan failed like all the rest."
He sighs, brushing some small glass pieces from his shoulder. "You must have forgotten you are my loyal dog. Maybe we should try training you again. You serve under me and follow behind me with respect. You understand that, right? Of course, you do. Why else would you continue to follow my orders and run to my defense when people go against me?"
Erwin's dog was only a nickname that came up a few years ago. I thought that it died out when the soldiers that created the title retired a year back. "You piece of shit! Go to hell!"
"Do you remember anything about your past?"
"What? Of course, I do. You know that. Now get out!"
"Do you remember what they did to you?"
"Erwin, stop it! You know the answers to these questions."
"Why did all your superiors know except for Levi, the most trusted person in your life?"
Tears swell in my eyes as he stabs me with his glare. "Erwin, stop..."
"Did you not think he deserved to know? Was your love and partnership with him all a fib?"
