New Approach

At this table is Erwin, Hange, Levi, Eren, Armin, Jean, and Mikasa. In front of me, the map we usually use to sketch our formation for our missions outside the walls. I plan to make a completely different approach when it comes to the Beast Titan. He holds many secrets to Titans and reasoning might be possible. This beast is smarter than any other we've encountered so I'm sure we can find some middle ground.

"So, what exactly do you want to do?" Erwin asks. "This won't be a normal mission."

"Originally, I wanted victory but the Beast Titan is a huge obstacle that I'm sure will stand in our way."

"How do you suggest we negotiate with that thing?" Mikasa asks. "What if it's like Annie?"

Jean nods. "It could do the same destruction again, maybe worse."

They're right. The Beast Titan can wipe us out if he wanted. I look at the map for a second. "Do you remember where we captured Annie, where those traps are set up?"

"Those wouldn't work on it, would it?" Hange brings up. "It's massive and smart. I doubt we can fool it like Annie."

"We're not using the traps." My eyes move to Eren. "We're going to meet there. Once we arrive at that point, Eren, you will transform proceeding a signal. From what we've learned, abnormals and shifters communicate through screams. Do you think you can handle that?"

"Hey, what did you need with that journal?" Armin asks. "I heard the person that wrote it was the first to come face-to-face with an actual talking Titan."

"Yes, that's correct. I'm simply going to use it to document everything we experience with the Beast Titan. That way, as time goes on, no information is left behind." I draw a line across the bottom. "I will have reinforcements along the wall and the rest will be moving in from the gate. I want to make sure no more damage comes to that wall. All civilians living there need to feel safe again. I don't care what it takes. Keep any and every Titan away from the wall. Turn them around or turn them into nothing."

"What about these new recruits?" Erwin inquires. "This mission is planned to be in a month or two. There is no way they'll be ready in that short time."

"I know I've been procrastinating when it came to planning this. With everything that was going on, it slipped my mind that this has to be done. Now, we are going solely based on what I see to be right for the time being. If the new soldiers aren't ready, they still go. As we do have the numbers to leave behind, I don't plan to coddle them. Seeing death before their eyes might bring out something they never knew about themselves."

"And what about Garrison?" Levi says. "Are we involving them in this operation?"

"Not exactly. I will be speaking with Pixis and Rico soon about what I need from them. They will be protecting the citizens on the inside but also a handful of them operating the canons. We need them if Titans get too close."

I have absolutely no intentions of capturing the Beast Titan for interrogation. For Mike and Connie's home, I will show it no mercy. Watch out, Beast Titan. I'm coming for you and I don't plan to lose.
