It wasn't long before my stomach grew and word spread around that two of humanity's strongest soldiers were having a child together. While Levi led the new Elite squad, I had to busy myself with paperwork just to pass the day by. I had nothing else to do. It took me a while but I realized military training and going outside the wall was all I had going for me. I ran out of books to read and everyone apart of the Survey Corps was too busy to keep me company. So, I take care of all the paperwork that comes Levi's way.
"Hange, what am I supposed to do about my back pain? It's annoying."
I rub my huge stomach, sighing. I'm eight months in and I'm so ready for it to be over. All I get is cravings for certain foods and trouble sleeping in certain positions. I can't fit my vest or uniform so I compromise with tan shirts or larger white blouses that Hange or Erwin would usually fit well. I listened to the nurse and stopped smoking but I handle problems worse since I stopped. I become angry and annoyed more easily. However, it's not much different from before.
Hange laughs from the couch in my office. He's been very supportive and helpful but doesn't miss an opportunity to have his giggles about this whole ordeal. "I gave you that cream, didn't I?"
"It sucks! It barely helps!"
"Stop complaining! I paid top dollar for that stuff!"
"Well, get your money back. It wasn't worth whatever you paid."I grab the papers in front of me and slowly get up from my chair. "Where's Levi anyway? He needs to look at the numbers for this upcoming expedition."
Erwin is making another attempt to get to Eren's basement in two weeks. Since he has one arm, Hange will be commander in his place when going outside the walls. He will stay here. I've been helping him put everything together. I knew about this long ago but I didn't expect to be unable to go due to pregnancy or him not having an arm. Hange stands with and places a protective arm behind my back. "He's out training as always," he replies in a much softer voice. "Are you okay walking?"
I hold my stomach, nodding. "I'm fine, Hange. Thank you. Get back to work and leave me alone."
He kisses the top of my head. "Call me if you need something."
I push him away, scoffing. "I'm fine, go." We part ways as he returns to his lab and I find Levi in the courtyard with his subordinates. Everyone is geared up and ready to go through the trees. I approach Levi who's talking with all of them. When I walk up, conversations cease. "How do... How do you feel, Corporal Saichi?" Connie asks.
I continue rubbing my stomach. Exhausted. Like there's a human growing in me. "I'm fine. I hope you all are preparing for your trip outside the wall."
"Yes, Captain!" they chant.
Eren raises his hand high. Levi and I exchange looks. "Spit out what you want, brat," Levi says.
"Captain, may I have your permission to feel your belly?"
"Eh?"
I see all the eyes of the Elite light, except for Mikasa of course. I'm guessing this was a request they've been sitting on. Eren is just the stupidest out of them all to say it aloud. "There's nothing special about-"
Sasha cuts me off by saying, "We think it's cool you're pregnant! We really want to know what it feels like! Please grant this to us, Captain!"
"Well, I... I don't see why not?"
It doesn't take more than to have them surrounding me like an art exhibit. Armin is the first to get his hands on me. He gasps, blushing a little. "I can practically feel it moving!"
