Years. Months. Weeks. Days. Hours. Minutes. Seconds.
They all passed with no fair warning. It was as if there was no such thing as living, just time ticking away. Sun up to sun down, I became more and more dead inside. It got to a point of having to make up a reason just to live. I was reaching my limit emotionally and physically. I wanted to cry out but there would be no one to hear.
"Graduates of the 105th Training Corps, salute your hearts!"
I throw my fist over my heart as the soldiers before me do the same. Finally, the graduation of the recent training corps. Due to the rebuilding of the walls, it was postponed. As the numbers of the Freedom Scouts is about to become larger, due to the many requests to join, I had to make a large stretch. Levi, Jean, and Mikasa are now squad leaders. I placed Connie in charge of the food imports and cooking. Sasha is our new stable girl. She is held responsible for every single horse we have. She handles all shipments and decisions concerning them.
Eren is now the commanding assistant. He is the acting commander in case anything is to keep me too busy or any injury that keeps me away from my duties. We sadly lost Moblit during a mission outside the wall and I replaced him with Armin. His intelligence and Hange's curiosity go perfectly together.
We have had three expeditions and they both came out successful. It's one of the main reasons for the high requests. Wall Rose is now back to the way it was. With Eren and the combination of all three divisions, it now has its gate and no boulder in it. Now that the entire Wall Maria is clear from Titans, the wall is still in the process of being rebuilt. As everything is being done, my new job is to plan yet another mission outside the walls. This time, our goal is to take down the Beast Tian for good, the only thing standing in our way to freedom outside the walls.
I am keeping my promise to the Beast Titan. I will kill him myself. For Mike, for Nanabe. For all the other soldiers he's killed, directly and indirectly.
I step down from the stage and I'm attacked with a hug by Suri. She's five now and has sprouted from the ground. Her black hair is down her back and she has a very angelic face. She usually wears a white button up shirts and black skirts or pants. "You were awesome, Mommy! Do you think you think I'll be saluting one day?"
I laugh and pat her head. "Thank you, Suri. I think you can do anything you truly are determined to do."
I begin walking but she grabs the back of my pants and holds out her hand. "Hand."
I smile and take hold. She walks cheerfully next to me as we head back to headquarters. After eating in the dining hall, I take Suri to bed. She has her own room now but she prefers being in my bed or with Eren. She crawls under her covers, giggling. "What are we doing tomorrow?"
I'm too occupied finding her stuffed bear, the one Nile gave her that she's kept all these years. I hear someone say, "You will be with Erwin while we deal with the new recruits."
"Eren!" I look up to see him standing in the doorway. Over the years, he has developed a more mature look and body image. He has a calmer face and now presents himself as a fine young man. As expected, his personality hasn't changed a bit when it comes to his drive and passion. His hair grew out past his shoulders until I cut it myself. Now he is comfortable with it just a little past his ears. "Are you sleeping with me tonight?"
"Sorry, Suri," he replies. "I have too much work to do tonight."
I finally find the stupid bear under her bed. I slide it next to her. "You know how it is, Suri," I say to her. "If he could, Eren would be here with you every night. Now get some sleep."
