"So this is what a werecat is."

I had to borrow one of Erwin's shirts just to allow Hange to do a thorough examination. The sleeves are way too long, and the length is enough to reach my knees. After helping Levi into fresh clothes, I took a short nap and woke up feeling hot. I thought I just needed a cold bath but turns out I just transformed while sleeping. I looked in a mirror to see I had a tail coming from my lower back, long and pointy furry ears replacing my real ears, feline pupils, sharp teeth, and claws. I feel like I have control of my tail when it comes to moving it about but I don't really know how to go back to normal.

Hange has been pulling and poking while furiously writing. It's about one in the morning and I want to go back to sleep. "Hange, are you done yet? I'm tired."

"Almost! One more thing!" He takes a pair of small scissors and cuts at the bandages on my arms. When he unravels it, my skin looks completely normal. When I replaced them earlier, I still had cuts and burns. I healed like Eren would. "This would sort of explain why your bite on Eren's neck hasn't healed."

I sit up on the back of my legs. "Really? It's been weeks since I bit him."

He sets down his papers and shrugs. "The cut you said you inflicted is gone but your teeth marks look fresh. Do you still feel warm?"

"No. I feel...normal."

"Well, tomorrow is a big day. Think you can sleep?"

I step down from the table and Erwin's shirt falls down to mid-thigh in the front but the tail holds it up in the back. "There shouldn't be an issue."

"Do you have your Elite Squad list ready?"

"I wrote it down and put it on my desk. I'll give it to Levi before the crack of dawn."

He moves his glasses up to his head and sighs. His eyes. Why do they so sympathetic? I hate it with a passion. I don't want or deserve that from him. "I'm sorry I allowed Levi to read your file from Lovof. We...agreed it was time. I-"

"Hange. It doesn't matter now. We have more pressing matters to worry about. What happens between Levi and me is not one of them."

"We all still want you to be able to work together. We need two of humanity's strongest soldiers side by side at all times."

"After I come back from my leave, we'll see. For now, get through tomorrow. The rest will undo itself."

In the morning, the Military Police arrive to take 'Eren' and I away. Behind him will be Erwin and Levi. Everyone is already inside the inner wall, in position. As I stand by the entrance, waiting, Nile approaches me with a huge grin on his face. He thinks he's won. He has another thing coming. "I guess your little Titan boy was useless after all," he says to me.

I feel one of my cat ears twitch from annoyance. He's so arrogant. How can a father be so quick to end a child's life? "He doesn't deserve this and you know that."

"He's a Titan. All Titans deserve to die. They are nothing but destruction and a pain in the ass."

"The only pain in the ass here is standing before me."

He snaps his fingers and a cold metal collar is snapped around my neck. Along with this collar comes a long chain. Nile forcefully pulls at it, yanking me forward. I almost fall down but I lean back to catch myself. I grip the chain from my end, trying to pull against him. Two other soldiers grab my arms and shackle my wrists together behind my back. They begin pulling me toward my designated carriage. Something about this force feels so familiar to me. If I didn't fight, I didn't win. If I didn't win, I didn't live. If I fought, I won. If I won, I didn't die.
