I think there's something wrong with the twins."

Danny's face drops as the words leave my mouth. I've managed to get him alone. It's Wednesday, which means that Mark is spending time with his children. So that gave me the perfect chance to speak to someone about it before worrying Mark over nothing.

What d'you mean?”

They aren't moving properly. Like, they'll be still for days, and then suddenly they'll go crazy.”

Isn't that what they do in there?”

Did you listen to what I said? They don't move for days, Dan. That's not right. There's something going on and...” My voice begins to break as I try to force the next part of the sentence out. “And I'm worried I'm going to lose them.”

Danny pulls me into his arms, letting me cry. I can't go through that again. I can't face killing my babies again...

It's going to be okay,” he says softly, pushing my face back to wipe the tears away. “We'll get you to the doctors. They'll run some tests. See if there's anything wrong. But I'm sure they'll be fine.”

I can't lose them...I can't do it again...”

You won't lose them. They're fighters. Just like their mum. They'll fight to survive.”

The smell of ice-cream pulls me out of the memories of the morning. I glance down to find a large tub of sherbet ice-cream in front of me, a spoon stuck into it ready for me. A happy smile crosses my face for the first time today. My eyes land on Mark, who's smiling lovingly at me from across the table.

“Where did you find this?” I ask. “They said they'd ran out at the supermarket...”

“I bought the last tub last week.”

“Why didn't you tell me?!”

“Because I knew that you would need it at some point. And I wanted it to be a surprise.”

I reach over and caress his cheek. He's so adorable. Ever since his outburst, he's done his damnedest to make it up to me. And he really has outdone himself. Twice this week, he's taken me out for a meal. He's watched the girliest films possibly without any complaints. I've even gotten a few special massages...

“Thank you, gorgeous. This is great.”

His eyes twinkle as I take a large mouthful into my mouth. I moan with delight as the sweetness hits my tongue, shortly replaced with the beautifully sour flavours that makes this ice-cream exactly right. The intense pleasure causes my eyes to close as I let the tastes take over all my senses. Today is the best experience of a craving. Ever.

I hear his chuckle and open my eyes again. I grin at him, mouth full of ice-cream, before scooping up a large spoonful to hold out for him

“Want some?” My voice is muffled by the amount of food in my mouth, and this seems to tickle him.

“It's yours, baby,” he laughs. “I didn't buy it for me to eat.”

I glare playfully at him, pushing the spoon up against his lips. His eyebrow lifts in amusement, making me nudge him again. I mumble some half-hearted threats, incoherent through the tonnes of delicious goodness in my mouth and he laughs. I squeal in happiness as he opens his mouth, taking the food from off the spoon. I pull it out of his mouth, seeing excess ice-cream left on it. I bring it to my own mouth, purring happily as I inspect the rest of the tub. I can't wait to get through this whole thing...
