" ZEREF!" I shouted. Zeref and I are on a mission together. Our opponent is Jiemma (He's not Minerva's father in this). Zeref was just knocked into the wall.
" I'm fine. Let's go," He got back up. I nodded.
" This is Agent Heartfilia. Send the group B," I said into my earpiece.
" Roger that. We'll be on our way. Stall until we get there," Cobra said. He and Midnight are Group B.
" Lucy. We need to leave," Zeref said.
" Let's do this, Jiemma!" I shouted and charged. I only had to fight for a few minutes. Cobra and Midnight took over. I grabbed Zeref and ran far away to a safe clearing. I set him down against a tree.
" I'm fine, Lucy. You don't have to- OWWWW!!" I touched his leg. He grabbed my hand. I gave him a serious look.
" Listen to me, Zeref. I don't want you lying to me about this," I said. He just nodded.
" Why are we here?" Zeref asked.
" If we go to the mission safe site, they'll...... they'll....." I started shaking. He sat up.
" You're scared that they'll scan me and find something you don't want to see," He said. I nodded.
" I can't lose another one. Mom, Dad, Sophie, Natsu, Gray, Sting...... What if something goes wrong?" I said.
" Lucy...... don't be so dramatic. It is just a minor injury," He reassured. I poured water on his cut and bandaged it.
" Come on. We need to head to the hideout," I said and pecked him on the lips. He stopped me from picking him up.
" I can walk myself," He said. I growled and slapped him.
" I'm tired of it now," I whispered.
" What are you-" I cut him off.
" STOP IT! I hate it when you do this! Saying you can do everything by yourself!" I shouted.
He looked at me wide-eyed. As if he hasn't heard me yell like this.
" I have to put up with it every mission you get hurt! Because I believe in you! And yet... and yet..." I fell to my knees and covered my eyes with my hands. I started crying uncontrollably. A pair of arms embraced me.
" I try to help you, Zeref. I really do. You just push me away like I'm still that teenage girl you always challenged!" I shouted in his chest.
" So why?! Why can't you trust me and LOVE me like I trust and LOVE you?!" I screamed. My hands were removed and I opened my eyes to see Zeref's eyes shadowed. Tears ran down his face. Next thing I know, his lips were on mine. My eyes fluttered closed and I started kissing back. We finally separated for air.
" I'm.... sorry. For making you think you were being pushed away. I just... don't want you to help me and then think I am such a burden that you will leave me. I don't... I don't want you to leave me. Because I... BECAUSE I LOVE YOU, LUCY!" He shouted, face turning red as he looked away.
" Zeref...." I whispered.
" Everyone I loved... they left me. And... I was really afraid you were going to leave me too because you would be helping me so much..." He said.
" I promise. I won't leave you. Not now... not ever. You hear me? Come on. Let's go," I said picking him up and throwing his arm over me. We walked to the safe site and they took Zeref in. I sat outside the tent hearing his screams. When they finally stopped, Zeref came out of the tent.
" You ready to go home?" He asked. I nodded. We started heading back.
WHEN THEY ARRIVE!
After going back to HQ and hanging out, Zeref and I ended up walking back to the house. When we walked in, the babysitter was watching little Mavis, our 6-year-old daughter. When we found out I was pregnant, both Zeref and I knew that we would call her Mavis in honor of the Mavis we grew up with.
"Mommy! Daddy! You're home!" She squealed, running up to me and giving me a hug. Zeref handed the babysitter money.
"She wasn't bad, was she?"
"No, Mr. Dragneel. She was an angel the whole time," I silenced my laugh, knowing she was lying. It was said all over her ruined appearance.
"Here. Go ahead and buy yourself something nice," I smiled, giving her an extra 20, "And thank you again for watching our little Mavis."
"Anytime," She smiled back, before walking out the door, "Have a good evening!"
I locked the door behind her, sighing as I put Mavis down, "What did you do, young missy?"
"I trained with her!" She giggled, dancing around. I couldn't help but chuckle.
"Sweetie, you don't train while we're gone. You could seriously hurt someone," Zeref said with concern, "We could get sued and lose our money."
"B-But I just... I wanted to-to do what Mommy and Daddy were doing..." She sniffled as she was on the verge of crying.
"Oh, honey, don't cry," I squatted down and patted her head, "Tell you what. Now that we're home, you and Daddy can train while I cook us some dinner."
"W-Wait. What? I didn't agree to-"
"Can I use a real knife this time?!"
"Sure, honey. Be careful, though. No cool tricks."
"H-Hey now. Let's not-"
"Come on, Daddy! Let's go!" Mavis ignored Zeref's protests, dragging him to the backyard. I shook my head, making my way to the kitchen.
