"Shit Olivia! What the hell happened?" he asked as he held her tightly allowing her to cry on him, he gently pulled her inside and closed the door behind them letting her go whilst he scrambled around trying to find her something to dry her eyes with, she let out a laugh when he handed her one of his tee shirts "here, its clean" he said standing awkwardly waiting for Olivia to compose herself "I'm sorry to just turn up like this I've had a shit night and I needed to be away from it all" she weakly smiled "yea this trailer is far from where you are from Cinderella" Daryl teased and immediately gave her an apologetic look when he noticed it wasn't the time for jokes.
Daryl lit up a cigarette and handed Olivia the pack for her to take one, he gave her a look for her to explain her being here and that he was listening, "I think me and Shane are through, I feel like such an idiot! He has been seeing other girls behind my back" Olivia started, slapping herself on the forehead, sitting on the sinking couch "I had a row with my father, and he slapped me" she added moving her hair from her cheek to show Daryl the red mark he left "that bastard!" he snapped slamming his fist to the table, Olivia placed her hand over his fist to calm him down "it doesn't matter, I half expected it really" she laughed "there is a lot you don't know about my father" she added leaving the conversation there, Daryl reluctantly accepted it ending there. "you are more than welcome to crash here Olivia but its cold, and I haven't got any food in but you knew that anyway." Daryl sighed looking disappointed with his surroundings "I'll buy breakfast in the morning to make up for cramping your style" she teased making Daryl laugh "wont take much to get cramped in here" he laughed at himself and then blushed red when he realised how that came across.
Olivia turned her phone off, she didn't even check the messages or missed calls, placing it in her bag before putting that in Daryl's room. "what was you doing before I arrived? did interrupt anything did I?" she asked as she sat beside him on the couch, he pulled a face "not like that! I meant was you doing a video game or something?" she corrected herself playfully pushing him as they sat. "not really, I just got back from a drive on my bike, I do that a lot. I nearly didn't come home" Daryl replied, he looked glad he did come home by the smile he gave Olivia, she was pleased he came back too, if he wasn't home she certainly wasn't going to Lori or Andrea, they always defended Shane. "where do you go?" Olivia asked "all over, I go miles out, sit in the woods, at lakes, at beaches, just feel the freedom of it all, its really something" he replied, for the first time Olivia heard Daryl speak with pride over something and she listened word for word. "would you take me one day?" Olivia asked once Daryl had finished. He nodded "can go tomorrow if you'd like? or did you wanna go with your mates and do something?" he suggested before feeling too forward "no tomorrow is perfect! lets go to a beach!" Olivia smiled excitedly.
The pair began yawning uncontrollably as the night wore on, they had spoken a lot since she arrived from his travels, to school, to movies and then a few awkward silences fell among them but they giggled their way out of them. "shall we go bed?" Daryl suggested standing from the couch and helping Olivia to her feet "oh no not like that!" he stammered, Olivia knew what he meant anyway and laughed his panic off. "You take my bed, the sheets are clean, after you came by earlier I cleaned a little, Ill take Merle's" he offered pulling the covers back for her. He went to his draw and pulled out a battered tee shirt and some boxer shorts of his for her to sleep in. "thanks Daryl" she smiled, he nearly tripped over the mess he hadn't tidied on the floor as he raced to get out so she could change.
He cleared his throat as he entered to let her know he was coming back in. "there is another blanket if you want it" Daryl spoke pointing to under the bed, Olivia nodded and crawled into Daryl's cold sheets, he was right it was cold, she wrapped herself up in his covers and even then she wasn't warm enough, telling herself in her head it was her spoilt upbringing making her feel like this and she shouldn't exaggerate.
Olivia wasn't exaggerating, she could not stop shivering as she slept, she wasn't sure she was even sleeping, every time she dropped into slumber her harsh shivering woke her up. She turned to see Daryl placing another blanket across her, she must of woke him with all her movements "told you it was cold" he joked climbing back into his brothers bed. "cant we push the beds together and put all the blankets over us?" she suggested sitting up in bed, Daryl thought for a moment before Olivia spoke again "just jump in here with me, bring your blanket our body heat will keep us warm!" she whimpered kicking her legs up and down on the bed to try and maintain warmth. Daryl looked concerned, he wasn't sure what to do, he got up to move his bed closer but Olivia grabbed his arm "come on, I wont bite" she reassured him. They both couldn't deny their body heat hadn't made the world of difference, Olivia stopped shaking instantly. "how do you sleep like this every night?" she asked turning to face him, he turned to look at the ceiling, he was feeling extremely awkward lying in bed like this "I don't, I just have to get on with it" he admitted sighing placing his arm underneath his head as he rested. "cant afford to heat this place as well as everything else" he added, Olivia felt guilty for moaning so much "Daryl, I'm sorry I didn't think, I'm spoilt remember!" she joked as she apologised "I'll give you money if you want?" she suggested, it wouldn't be her money per say but her parents gave her a pretty hefty allowance and she didn't spend all of it "Olivia I don't want charity I do just fine" he snapped slightly and turned to face away from her.
The room fell silent, Olivia now being warm still couldn't sleep, she felt awful for moaning so much about being cold and for humiliating Daryl by offering to pay to help him heat his home, she thought how embarrassed she would be if it was the other way around.
When morning came Olivia woke to find herself spooning Daryl, she could tell Daryl was awake and he had been lying there so Olivia could sleep longer, it made her smile. She shocked herself when she found herself nearly trace kisses up his back like she had done once before when she stayed at Shane's cuddled up after Lori's Sweet 16th.
She pulled a disheartened face when she remembered back to last night and why she was here but she put it to the back of her mind.
"Get dressed and stuff and we can head out, I got somewhere I think you will like" Daryl spoke getting himself out of the bed, he headed out without turning to look at her, Olivia giggled when she realised what he was hiding from her.
"That's if you still wanna go?" he asked poking his head back in the door "Yup, give me a minute to freshen up" she replied.
