We went to the little mall in our town. It wasn’t even a mall, it was more of a plaza. But we called it a mall to be nice to it. We walked into the first clothing store we saw, and looked at the different patterns.
“So what exactly do you wear?” Michie asked me. We hadn’t said much to each other since we left the cafe that it surprised me.
“Um well I wear a lot of bright colours.” She nodded.
“Yes, I’ve noticed that.” Then I heard her phone ring. Michie picked it up. “Hello. Yeah, we’re at the mall so if there’s anything you need us to pick up. Mhm. Okay.” She hung up.
“So, what’s the deal with the party?” I asked her.
“It’s a masquerade party.” She told me, and when I looked at her face, she looked a little disappointed.
“Did you not want one?”
“It’s the middle of June. Why are we having masquerade party?” She asked, but I shrugged.
“How am I supposed to know?” But we dropped it after. We looked at the clothes, and I finally found something I liked. It was a black jacket, a purple plaid shirt, and blue jeans. I showed it to Michie and she approved.
I grabbed it and went to the fitting room. I tried it all on and everything fit. I looked at myself in the mirror and loved it, I was even tempted to send a picture to Daemon, but thought that I should wait until the party for him to see it. I walked out of the fitting room and saw Michie standing there.
“You look good.” She said, smiling. I said thanks and turned to go back into the fitting room. But Michie stopped me.
“Wha-what are you doing?” I asked her, frightened.
“Garrett, you were there for me when no one else was.”
“Where are you going with this?”
“And I want to thank you for that.” She leaned in, and kissed me on the lips. I pushed her away instantly. “I thought that would happen, but I’m glad I got to do it.” She ran off after that. I just went into the change room and changed quickly, with a stunned look the whole time.
When I exited the change room, and paid for the clothes, I saw Michie standing outside the store. I wanted to go up to her, and ask her why she kissed me, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t do that, I didn’t want to make things more awkward than they already were. So, I just walked towards her and said that we should get going now. She nodded and got up from where she was sitting.
We walked in an awkward silence the whole way to her car. I didn’t know what to do or say, she had kissed me even though I already had a BOYFRIEND. I had a BOYfriend for a reason. I liked BOYS. Last time, I checked she was a girl. I would say those exact words to her, but I didn’t want to be harsh.
We got in her car, and she started it up. She drove us back to her place, so we could get ready for the party. I don’t know if we were going to talk at all. I hated this, she just made it awkward for herself. Michie walked into her room, and shut the door. So, I went to the living room to change.
It felt so weird to be in her house, and not speak to her. But I remembered that I didn’t even know where the party was. So, I went to her bedroom door and knocked. She opened it. She had put on a green lace blouse, and high waisted jeans.
“Where is the party?” I asked her.
“Daemon’s. I don’t want to go, but they’ll get mad if I miss out.” She glared at me. So, she’s mad at me now?
