Roman steadies me on my feet before grabbing Scooter’s shoulders and flinging him away from Adam. He begins to stumble but Roman quickly grabs him, forcibly keeping him from my friend and also trying to restrain him.
“Take Piper home,” he orders, his eyes meeting Adam’s for a moment. Bruised and bloody, he wavers. “Did you not hear me? Now.”
Adam moves from the wall and smears the red from his forehead. “I don’t need you to take care of me,” he spits.
Scooter struggles against Roman’s hold but he doesn’t seem to care. “I’m not taking care of you,” he says back, just as forcefully. “I’m taking care of her.”
