"Crystal! Catch me if you can!!" River taunted as he jumped on my bed.
I sighed. It was impossible to get any homework done when all your 7 year old brother wanted you to do play with him. I put down my pencil and turned to face him.
"Crystal!" My older sister, Ocean, shouted from the next room over. "What did you do with my earrings??!"
In fact, in our small house in Louisiana, it was impossible to get anything done.
Ocean stomped in my room with her hair curled and her best dress on. She was in high school, and went out with her boyfriend almost every night.
Yuck, if you ask me.
"Where are my earrings?"
"I don't know." I replied calmly.
Ocean frowned and decided they weren't worth the trouble.
"Why won't you play with me?" River asked as I ruffled his golden curls.
"I'm sorry, River, how about I take a break and we go play at the beach?"
River's face lit up. "Yay!"
I pushed him out of my room, shut the door, and put on my lavender bikini. As I put up my hair, he knocked on my door wearing his SpongeBob swim trunks. We walked out the back door, and raced to the ocean. I was a few feet away when I tripped and fell flat on my face.
"Ow..." I moaned. I was stuck. Somehow a piece of seaweed was holding my foot down, and what felt like hundreds of broken seashells were under my uncovered stomach.
"River!!" I yelled when I couldn't pull my self up. He raced over, wide eyed.
"Are you okay?" He questioned as he helped pull the seaweed off.
"Thanks, buddy." I said.
When I finally pulled myself up, I noticed a shell that was attached to my stomach. It was light pink and sparkly, too. I examined it. The shell was the last thing I saw before a huge wave washed over me and pulled me away.
