Teddy bears appeared in the air when I opened my eyes. Stifled laughter came from the cave behind us. "What?" Addison and I said at the same time. We chose to ignore the laughs, and I continued practicing with the water. "Wow! You're a natural." Addie says. "That's what my mom said too." Addison had a confused look on her face. "Oh! I didn't tell you. This all just happened yesterday in the hospital. My mom says I got it from my dad." I continued on. "Apparently, he died in a storm right before I was born." A small cry came from the cave behind us again. "Let's go check it out." I said. We swam into the cave. It was beautiful! There were stalagmites and stalactites everywhere. He was probably about 6 feet, and he was wearing shorts and a Nike sweatshirt. He was crying quietly. "Hey." I whispered. He turned his head to look at us. Our tails were hidden by a huge rock in front of us, but our faces were still visible. "Hey, you were the girls talking out there, right?" I shot a look at Addie. How much had he heard? "Umm, yeah." His eyes widened. Then, I realized. He must have seen me practicing my powers! "Who are you?" I asked. "Eric. Eric Hunter." He held out a hand and I shook it. "I'm Crystal, and this is Addison." She waved. "I'm lost. Can you help me?" "Sure, yeah. Where are you from?"
