When I walked into homeroom, arm around Eric's, Madi's eyes widened so big, she could have been a cartoon character. But, if looks could kill, I'd be dead right now, because the instant he looked away, she shot me a death glare. You know what got me the most though? When I sat down next to her with Eric behind me, she mouthed he's mine. Right at my face. Then the school bell rang, thank seaweed, or else I might have gone all Addison on her. Mrs. Thompson stomped in and cleared her throat to make an announcement. "Good morning class. Today we have a new student. His name is Eric Hunter, and apparently he's from Canada. Is there anything you can tell us about yourself, Eric?" Eric stood up and scratched his head. "Um, hi. I like playing football and swimming. I just- uh- moved here from..." "Toronto." I whispered. "I moved here from Tomato." Mrs. Thompson laughed, a cold nasally sound. "Well, it sounds like we have a real genius here. Anyway, we're going on an overnight trip to Charleston, South Carolina next week. Get the form on my desk and have your parents sign and pay for it. Class dismissed." The class cheered quietly; we had been waiting to go to Charleston since the start of middle school! We all stood up and went to first period. "That's it." Eric whispered in my ear. "I'm from Charleston."
