We both ran from the bathroom, tails dried. We ran to our lockers and got all our stuff. We past the front office and bursted through the front doors. "Yee-haw!!" I screamed. We were free. We raced to the beach. We were so excited to get to the ocean that our hair was transforming as we ran. Addison's turned into a beautiful maroon-red, like her tail, with silver and brown highlights. My newly aquamarine hair flew free behind me as we reached the pier. It was weird; before I had become a mermaid, my hair was shoulder length, but it had quickly grown past my chest overnight! We jumped into the ocean, waiting for our tails to appear. Addison led me to a gorgeous cove. "Wow." I whispered. It was breath taking. Addison peered at it sadly. "I found this cove when I was 6. My parents were fishers. A storm swept me away from them, and just as I was about to drown, I became this." She gestured to her tail. "It's a pain in the butt. I miss my family so much. Do you know why I hate Madi so much?" I shook my head no. "Because she looks almost identical to the one that made me change. The only really good thing that came from the incident was meeting you." She smiled weakly. "Oh, and I taught myself all kinds of powers and tricks with water."
