Beep. Beep. Beep. "What's going on?" I moaned and looked around. I was in a sterile white room with only a bed and a some sort of machine. Wait a second, I was hooked up to that machine! I screamed. A doctor and my mom rushed in. "Oh, my baby!" My mom reached to hug me. "Be careful," the doctor warned. "Crystal's lucky to be alive right now." I looked at him, confused. "Your brother told us that the ocean pulled you away from shore, and by the time we got there, you were back on land. You weren't breathing." The doctor explained. My mother nodded sorrowfully. "I'm just so glad that you're back!" She kissed my forehead. The doctor continued, "When we got you here, we noticed that you had cuts all over your body. Do you remember how you got those?" "Yeah... I fell on some shells when I was racing River." The doctor made a note on his clipboard and adjusted his glasses. "Alright. I'll leave you and your mother alone for now." My mom nodded and said, "Thank you, Doctor Yuen!" He nodded in approval and left. "Aww, baby, I'm so sorry!" She started crying. "Mom, what?" She sniffed. "I have something to tell you."
