After checking out from the hospital, Mom and I got in the car and sped down to the pier. "Are you sure?" She said. "Yes, I think I'm ready." I gulped. After that dream(?), I was a little nervous to go swimming, but the scales had spread past by lower belly, and were quickly covering my legs. If I didn't get to the ocean soon, I might have turned into a mermaid on land. Plus, those scales were itching bad. When we got to a stoplight, Mom took a look at me and screamed. "You...your...." "What?!" I asked. "Your HAIR!" I grabbed a chunk and looked at it. My normal light brown had been replaced with golden, silver, and turquoise stripes! Mom slammed on the gas. We raced to the beach. My legs were slowly sticking together (and it burned)! I jumped out of the car and ran as fast as I ever had in my life. When my legs were completely stuck together, I waddled a few feet and reached the ocean. My legs were stuck together! Right when the water touched my feet, my tail formed. It felt like my toes were melting into a fin. "Argh!!!" The pain was overwhelming. All I wanted to do then was to go back just a couple hours, to when I was doing homework at my desk. The tail formed and I swam. My sight underwater was amazing, and the water felt like silk on my skin. I swam away from all my problems until the sky was dark. Then I headed home, leaving the beautiful ocean world behind, just for now.
