Scott's POV
"Scott...." A whisper echoed into my ear. "Scott."
"Scott, wake up." Is it her? Is it Allison? "Scott!"
My eyes open quickly, my body jolts awake. I look around the bright room, I was in my tent. Andrew towered over me, crossing his arms across his chest. His face filled with worry.
"Finally you're awake." He smiles with relief.
"What happened?" I start to sit up but Andrew stops me.
"Scott lay back down, you were hurt badly. The poison isn't fully drained out of your body." Andrew holds me down gently. I look at him with wide eyed.
"Poisoned?!" I exclaim distressingly.
"You'll be fine, I flushed most of it out. But you need to relax, or that big gash is your side won't heal." He warned me as he walked out of the tent, leaving me alone.
I lay back onto the bed, and look down at my torso that was wrapped up. A big gash?
Within a few minutes, several people come flooding into the tent. Everyone had some sort of injury as they walked in, all except Aaron, John and Andrew.
"Scott!"
"Man you look awful."
"Hey dude you feeling better?"
"Scott! My darling! You're finally alive!" I chuckled.
Everyone greets me at one time with smiles. Some stand off to the side, Aaron kneels next to me, while Matt sits on the foot of my bed, his arm hanging in a sling, and his nose is bruised.
"How long was I out?" I ask, glancing at everyone. I let out a small laugh, "Are you all okay?"
"Almost a week." Matt answers with worried eyes. "We're all fine, just some bumps and bruises here and there."
"Yah you hit your head pretty hard." Aaron says.
"I saw a poison in your system that was a weak sedative. It was supposed to make your immune system weaken. You were exposed to a high dose, you were very ill while you were unconscious." Andrew explained."Yea man, we thought you'd never get better." Nate spoke. I smile at him playfully. I searched through all the faces, but I didn't see the two faces that would usually be here.
"Where's Allison and Peter?" I ask looking at everyone as they fell silent, and staring at me sadly.
"What's wrong guys?" I observe all the faces, no one said a word. They all look at each other all at once.
"Who should tell him?" Someone asks, I gave a questioning look.
"Tell me wh-" I stop as Aaron gets up and walks out of the tent, he was upset.
Matt gives out a sigh, and kneels close to me, he set a hand on my shoulder.
"Peter, Ali, and Joseph have gone missing." Matt looks at me with sad eyes. "They've been missing since that creature came."
In that moment, my heart cracked as I remember that monster taking both of them away. I sit up, ignoring my physical pain, my emotional pain hurt worse.
"Allison.. Peter..?" I didn't realize I said it out loud.
"I'm so sorry man." Someone says. I ignore everyone's comments, I sit in my own silence, I can't hear anyone over my thoughts.
I sit up taking my blankets off of me, everyone jolts forward trying to keep me in the bed.
"Scott!" Everyone exclaims at once.
"You're not well, you're still weak from the poison, and you're going to open your wound. Please lay back down." Andrew orders, with everyone pushing me down.
"I need to find them. They're in danger." I whisper, I grit my teeth.
"We know that, how are you going to find them mate? You're injured, we've searched all over, we can't find them." Matt tells me pushing my shoulder. Defeated, I lay back down, I raise my hand and lay it on my forehead, I slowly close my eyes.
I hear Andrew telling everyone to get out so I was able to sleep. But thing is, I've been sleeping for almost a week, I can't sleep while I worry.
Andrew lowers himself near my bed.
"Scott, don't worry, Peter will keep her safe. He can protect himself too." I lower my arm and look at him. He smiles slightly at me.
"I'm worried that they may not be alive." I say in a low tone. "If I had been exposed to poison, then so have they. Has anyone else been poisoned?"
Andrew shook his head, "No, no one showed any of the symptoms, only you did."
I thought for a moment, the monster held Allison, Peter, and I. While it tightly held me, I felt weak. Allison looked ill and frail, she had been exposed to more of the poison than I have. The thought made my body shudder and my gut clench.
"The poison came from the monster that attacked us." I said to Andrew, his eyebrows furrowed. "I remember when it held me with its tentacle I had felt a surge of weakness."
"None of the boys were held by this monster, they must've gotten small doses, it most likely didn't affect them because it was such a small dose. Since you had such a large dose of it, it affected you greatly." Andrew thinks, scratching his head. He stands slowly and walks to my tent entrance.
"Get some sleep Scott, please. Try not to get up too much. I'll have Matt and the boys search some more." He says over his shoulder. I thank him profusely, and lay my head down, and stare at the ceiling.
"Where are you Allison?" I whisper to myself, I close my eyes. "Peter, keep her safe."Peter's POV
I groan in pain, sitting up on an old rickety bed, holding my head in my hands. My body ached and my head pounded painfully.
I look around in the unfamiliar dark room I was in. I had no memory of how I had gotten here or where I was.
I stand up slowly, brushing off the dust that were on my clothes. Standing up straight I look around, my side hurt incredibly once I stood on my feet. I lift up my shirt and notice a big circular bulge poking out, right under my rib.
"Shit." I mutter under my breath. My rib was broken, what happened to me that gave me a broken rib? How would I fix this?
I lower my shirt and search around the room, ignoring the pain for now. The place was old, wooden floors that were rotten. The walls were made of logs with no insulation, windows were covered by dirt, I couldn't see through them. Once I saw the door, I rushed over and pulled and pushed on it, it had no handle and it wasn't going to budge. I can't break it down in my condition. The stairs led upstairs into a darker room with no windows or doors. I steadily made my way up, I heard noises of painful and sad groans coming from up there but it was way too dark to see anything.
I walk down stairs into a room that looked like a kitchen. I found a candle in a drawer near a stove. I searched for something to light it, but had no luck. The old oak's voice echoed in my head, "You can do anything you put you mind to Peter."
I roll my eyes, I can't believe I'm trying this. I set the candle, standing on the wooden table in the middle of the kitchen.
I stare at the wick with a glare, I concentrated on lighting the candle, no luck. I tried snapping my fingers at it, blew on it, but nothing I thought of worked. I was starting to feel frustrated, I thought for a moment and cover the candle wick with my hands. I close my eyes and bow my head, concentrating.
I felt my anger rushing through my body and into my hands, like water trickling down my arm. Heat sprung up underneath my hands, I jolted back. I smile at the light source I had just created, proud of myself I grab the newly lit candle and head up the stairs.
The noise continued coming from upstairs as I inclined to the top. Several cots were lined up along the wall, each one held a rotted mattress. The stench erupted into my nostrils, I held my hand up to my nose to rid the smell.
I couldn't see the whole room, or where the noise or smell came from. I examine the cots until I see something in the corner of my eye.
I slowly turn my head to see a figure laying on a white cot in the corner of the room. I approach the figure slowly, the noise became louder and more distinct, it was a small feminine voice. I walked closer the stench got more intense, like rotting flesh.
I got close enough to see the person that was in the cot. Was I going mad? Am I losing my senses? The person in the bed was Allison, she was shaking violently.
I step back in horror as I saw the nightmare under the cot she was laying on. For the first time in a long time I was scared to death. A rotted corpse lay underneath Allison as she slept. Its eyes sunken in its head and mouth opened wide.
A shiver ran down my spine as I recognized the corpse.
Joseph.
