"Just tuck your thumb along the outside of your knuckles, yea just like that. This is so when you punch someone, you won't break your thumb." Scott explained to me, I did as told. Scott teaches me how to stand while fighting. He said always keep the stance strong or I could easily get pushed over. With my size and strength, anyone could just pick me up and take me.
Scott walked around me and gave me a really tight hug from behind, surprising me.
"How would you get out of this?" He whispered in my ear. I struggled, kicking, elbowing.. nothing I tried worked. "Pivot your hips as hard as you can to the right."
I did as told, I felt him stumble and his grip loosened. "Now, hit, punch, or kick whoever grabbed you. Don't actually try to hurt me just play hit me."
I struggled to get out of his grip, I turned and fake punched and kicked him in the chest. He smiled at me and gave me praise. He stood up straight, took his shirt off and threw it off to the side. We've been in the sun for a while, I'd say more than an hour. I was getting hot and sweaty too.
I caught myself staring at him, my face became red as a tomato, I looked away quickly. He was so toned and tan.
"Ok next we're going to work on your blocking." He walked over to me taking my arm and showed me how I should block. He stood back looking at me in my stance.
"You look so fierce." He laughed with a smirk. I gave a small laugh, standing up straight, with my arms at my side. He suddenly punched the air next to my face. I jumped back, I didn't block in time. He gave a playful smile and stepped back. I looked at him in surprise.
"What the hell?!" I exclaimed.
"You need to be ready and expect danger at anytime. If I actually wanted to hit you, you'd be on the floor." He points to the ground. He smiles with his teeth and dimples showing.
"I think that should be good for today." I give a deep breath. He pats my back and grabs his shirt wiping the dirt off.
"Let's go get some water." He tells me, pointing behind him, I nod and look off to the side as we walk off. I see Peter watching from afar. He walks to us as we head back to camp.
"Did you know Peter was watching us?" I say to Scott, he nodded and looked over his shoulder
"Yea, I noticed him a while ago. He just wants to make sure I'm teaching you right." He assures me with a smile.
"You guys did good." Peter says from behind us. I say nothing and look ahead.
"Thanks mate, I just taught her as my teacher taught me." Scott laughed and nudged Peter playfully.
My mind went elsewhere as the boys had their own conversation. My mind was blank and I just stared ahead as the noises around me disappeared and became fuzz.
"Ali." A weak voice spoke. "Ali."
"Allison!" A hand rested on my shoulder startling me. I grab onto it quick and twist, nearly breaking it. I realize it was Scott. I let go and back up with my hands in the air as if I was getting arrested. He weakly laughs and nods his head in approval.
"Nice work." He praises, I set my hands down to my sides slowly. Peter watched quietly, with a frown. Scott shakes out his hand and stands up straight. He mumbled, "I don't remember teaching you that."
"I-I'm so sorry!" I quickly say desperately. Peter continues to walk forward as Scott shakes his head and smiles proudly.
"No that was great. I'm the one who should apologize, I startled you." We slowly continue to walk catching up to Peter who was up ahead. I took his hand in mine to look at it, hoping I didn't hurt him. He quickly took his hand away from me.
"I'm fine, you didn't hurt me badly. It just caught me off guard." He told me with a worried smile. We quickly caught up with Peter at camp, I went to my tent to change. When I came back out into the sun I saw a sweet face.
"Ali!" Aaron chirped. I couldn't help but smile. I remember when we lost our dad, we were heartbroken, and for the longest time we weren't happy. Aaron has most likely been in worse situations since he's been in foster care longer than I was. But now, he seems so much happier, which makes me happy.
"Hey bud. What's up?" I ask messing up his hair. He quickly fixes it with a playful angry look, I give a small laugh.
"Do you want to go swimming up at the beach?" I tense at his request. As much as that would be fun, with everything going on I don't think it's safe.
"Um.. jeez.." I rub the back of my head nervously. "I don't know Aaron."
"Oh come on! Please! It's really hot today! And I thought you loved the beach!" He begged.
"Aaron I don't think it's safe. You know what's been going on, something might happen." I explain anxiously. He folds his arms across his chest.
"You sound like Peter!" He says, I raise my eyebrow.
"Excuse me?!" I nearly shout. "Oh hell no I don't! I'll ask Scott if we can go to the beach. That way I'll feel a bit safer, he's supposed to stay with me anyway.
Aaron's face brightens with a smile. We start to walk towards Scott's tent when Joseph stops me.
"Hey Ali, I need help gathering some stuff could you help me for a second?" He asked, I look towards Aaron then back at Joseph.
"I'm going to help Joseph for a sec okay? Ask Scott for permission for me and I'll meet you guys by my tent." Aaron nods and walks towards Scott's tent. As I follow Joseph the opposite direction.
After we head into the woods I notice Joseph acting strange.
"Joseph? Where are we going? Are you okay?" I question quietly.
"Shut up." I hear him say in a dark tone. I was astonished he'd say that to me.
"Excuse me!?" I heard irritation in my voice.
"I said shut up!!" Joseph turns around in a flash, slapping me with the back of his hand. I stumble backwards holding onto my face. I angrily turn to him.
"Joseph what the -" I stopped in my tracks as Joseph's eyes turned completely dark. A purple black mist surrounded him. I was left dumbfounded, standing there staring at my friend.
"Hello Allison." He spoke, but his wasn't Joseph's voice. It was deeper and more demonic. That's not Joseph, that's not Joseph at all.
