Ali's POV
We got out of the cabin by breaking the door down, it broke off with one strong hit, it split in half like a twig. Peter and I had to hit it together since we both were in bad shape.
We started down a trail leading deep in the woods. We had no idea where we were or how to get back home.
My body still ached all over, and Peter acted as if he was fine, but we both know he isn't. I look away from the trail we were walking on and looked at the pretty purple flowers on the ground.
I wasn't paying attention and ran into Peter who stopped in front of me all of a sudden.
"If you're going to stop immediately like that, warn me first!" I scold him. He sways a little, I look at his face and watch him go pale. I grab his arm gently to keep him on his feet.
"Peter? Are you okay?" I ask, concerned that he may drop to the ground any second. He lightly shakes his head and turns to me.
"I'm fine." He walks off like nothing is wrong. I continue to walk behind him quickly and quietly.
"You know, it's okay to admit that you're not okay." I tell him, looking away, I watch birds fly from one tree to another.
"I said I'm fine, we need to get back." He is stubborn, I'll give him that. He needs to rest, I know something is wrong. But maybe the faster we get back to camp the faster Peter can get help.
We pick some blueberries off a bush and chew on them. Again Peter stops and stares ahead of him.
"Peter..." I start quietly.
"Shh." He puts his finger to his lips to silence me. I could tell he was trying to listen for something, his head was turned to look off to the side, he stared at the ground in a daze, and he kept his finger weakly to his mouth.
I was about to question him when I listened too, to whatever he was hearing, I heard it.
He looks at me, his eyes wide with hope. I whisper staring back at him. "Its that...?"
"Rushing water!" He grabs my hand quickly and darts towards the sounds with me dragging behind him, we drop our berries on the way.
We get to a slow rushing river, Peter smiled excitedly, like a little kid on Christmas.
"Oh my god, its a river. We can get back to camp from here!" My heart beats with excitement! We get in the cool water, clothes and all, sighing with relief. My body eases as the cold water washes my pain away.
I sink down, with my head above the water, holding onto a rock to stay in place. I glance at Peter who looks totally relaxed. His head just above the water like me.
We stayed like that for a while till I had gotten used to the water and my pain was slowly coming back. I stood up and didn't see Peter anywhere, I looked all around the river, turning in every direction. I would've heard him get out. I started to feel very anxious and thought that maybe he left me alone.
I was startled by hands that grabbed my shoulders and pushed me under the water for only a second. I stood up out of the water quickly with a screech. Behind me I heard a roar of laughter, I turn with a glare on my face.
"Peter." I growl at him, he continues to laugh loudly holding his side. I smirk and cup my hand, running my hand on the surface of the river, gathering water in my cup. I launch the water right at Peter who stops laughing once the water touches him. He gives me a playfully smile and gets back in the river, splashing me back. I cover my face with my arms and look back him.
"Oh its on now!" I yell at him with a grin on both our faces.
Scott's POV
"Scott you're still sick, please go back to bed." Aaron begged. I ignore his request and head for the woods.
"I'm fine, if I'm not allowed to help look for Peter, Allison, or Joseph, then I can help with something around camp." Aaron rushes to get in front of me with a serious look on his face.
"I wasn't asking Scott. Go back to bed." Aaron ordered harshly, it startled me, I've never seen him like this. I bow my head and turn back, I see Aaron grin.
"Good boy." He pats my shoulder lightly. I raise an eyebrow.
"Am I a dog now?" I tease him. He nods with a smug look.
"My dog." He looks at me with a grin.
"Okay then." I say nothing and just accept it.
"Listen Scott." Aaron says with his head down as we enter my tent. I look down at him with curiosity. "I'm scared."
I pat his head and he looks up at me with surprise.
"I'm scared too. In fact I'm terrified to lose all these guys." Aaron's eyes gloss over.
"Really?" He was surprised I even mentioned my fear, I've always shown that I was fearless, I nod.
"Because if I didn't have them I'd be alone." I confess.
"I'm scared of losing Ali. Peter too, but mostly Ali." Aaron starts to pick at his fingers, I chuckle in a low tone.
"Me too buddy, me too." I sit down on the bed and sigh.
To entertain me, Aaron and I played some games. It got my mind off of all the problems in camp and Aaron looked so much more at ease. Until Matt rushes into my tent with a panicked expression.
"Scott, I know you're not feeling well but you need to come out here, now." He yelled at me, he quickly goes back outside. Aaron and I look at each other and head outside to see what's wrong. Before leaving my tent I grab my sithe and hold it tightly.
"There you are, weakling." A voice called as I enter the sunlight. I blink to get used to the bright light. I soon see the umbra, shadow, the one who was responsible for everything that's happened lately. I calmly walk to the ghostly man, but inside I was furious.
"What do you want?" I question him, I stand up straight, my chest broad to make myself look bigger. I cross my arms across my chest, I breath deeply to keep my cool.
He grins, "Oh, I just came over to say hello to Peter and Allison. I miss them so much." He sarcastically says with a laugh.
"They went missing, and so has one other named Joseph. You wouldn't happen to be responsible for this would you?" I demanded an answer, of course it was him. The shadow laughs loudly.
"You would think I was involved in this, wouldn't you. I would do something like this. But it wasn't me this time." His grin grew, and his eyes go wide with craze. He lying.
"Tell me. Why are you here then?" I say to him calmly, I wanted to slap that grin off his face. I step forward, holding my ground.
"Well, I knew they were gone. In fact I wanted to wait for the little pups to come home." I heard the sarcasm in his words.
"I don't want you here, please leave." I tell him roughly.
"Oh of course, I don't want to anger a weakling like you." The shadow laughs. Holding a hand to his chest, shaking his head.
"In fact," His eyes open wide with malice. He snaps his fingers and points to the twins. A black chain wraps around them, he does this with everyone in camp. The shadow was so fast, one could blink and they were in chains.
Before he could capture me, I slice the chains headed for me with my sithe, I quickly throw my knife, that was hidden in my shorts, at the demon.
Before the knife hit it's target, the shadow vanished with his laugh still in the air.
I felt him behind me, I turn with my sithe in hand. I stop before I hit Aaron, the shadow held the boy in from of himself as a shield.
"You're pathetic. How can someone like you protect Allison? You can't even protect everyone in camp. You can't even protect yourself." The shadow grins. I glare at him, my frown stretches across my face.
"Let Aaron go right now." I tell him in a low warning tone. The shadow challenges me with a smirk.
"Or what? Are you going to hit me with your stick?" He laughs, and disappears along with Aaron. Behind me the shadow throws Aaron into me, we both fall to the ground. I sit up and the shadow is gone.
"Never underestimate me weaklings!" His voice was loud, but his body was not found. "Once he gets back, tell Peter I was here for me would you?"
I pick up Aaron and stand him on his feet. All the other guys were free from their bonds. I growl, my knuckles were white from tightly gripping them.
"Is everyone okay?" I help Chris on his feet, he nods with a grunt, everyone else nods their heads as well.
"What was the purpose of coming here if he was only looking for a fight?" Matt walks over to me.
"It was a warning." Andrew stands behind us. His face was dark with anger, I've never seen him so angry.
"He wants to show who's stronger." I chip in, "We need to find Allison and Peter before the shadow does." I look off into the woods.
"But how? The island is so big." Charlie quietly says. Chris wraps his arm around his brother's shoulder.
"Ha! You know what else is big?" Chris jokes.
"Your mouth?" Charlie answered. Chris was speechless, he couldn't think of a better comeback.
"Pay attention!" Matt swats the back of Chris' head.
"We are in the center of the island. The beach is only an hour walk both east and west of here. They were most likely taken north or south where it would take them at most two days to get back by foot. If they were hurt they'd take it slower." I say, grabbing a map from Peter's tent and show everyone.
"We have to search north or south." Matt commands, "We'll camp out if we have to."
"We'll leave tomorrow at dawn, get packing." I yell.
