Allison's POV
"Hello?" I stutter into the black void, a spotlight shined onto me.
"Hello Allison." A male voice calls back, I shiver knowing who it was.
"It's you!" I exclaimed, anger rushed through my body. A figure in the distance walks to me slowly, I wanted to run but my feet were glued to the floor. I felt his eyes on me.
"Stay away from me!" I demanded, he continued to walk towards me. As he entered the light my heart nearly stops. This wasn't a shadow.. this was a man.
His soft green eyes looked through me, his hair was a strawberry blond color, small freckles on the bridge of his nose and cheeks, and his smile was sweet and innocent, like a child.
He was as tall as the shadow, same body type, but he wasn't a shadow. He was not see through, he was wearing a white shirt, a black jacket, and blue jeans.
"What.." I squeak. He stops right in front of me. "You're not... the shadow?" I mutter, staring at him.
"Not exactly, I am the shadow, but I'm not. I'll explain in a bit." He rubs the back of his head nervously.
"What do you want?" I growl at him, I felt a fire of hatred in my soul for this guy. His voice sounds exactly like that shadow, how can it not be him? He just smiles at me and steps closer.
"I'm here to help you." He pauses and looks up and down my body. "If you'll be a good girl, I'll let you move freely."
I nod in agreement, "I'll be good." I lie.
"Very well, if you try to run or do anything, there will be consequences." He tells me with hurt heard in his voice, and with a wave of his hand I was free. "You'll be a little weak to stand for a few minutes."
I fall to the ground as my legs give out. The shadow kneels next to me and lifts my chin to look at him.
"Now, any questions? I'll be happy to help you." He says to me. I look into his mesmerizing eyes.
"Why do you look different?" I ask him as he moves his hand away from me, and grins. "If you're the shadow, why do you look like a normal man?"
"A monster controls my body. This is the real me." He stares down at his hands, I look along with him in shock.
"Who are you?" Hesitation was heard in my voice, I continue to look at him as he stares at me with his soft eyes.
"I was Peter's brother. My name is Thomas." His eyes close and he glances down at the ground. I furrow my eyebrows.
"Was?" I question, he nods.
"He's no longer my brother, because my physical form is dead, only my soul lives on."
"Just because you're not alive doesn't mean Peter isn't your brother. He'll always be your family, your flesh and blood." I tell him, I sit back, my legs start to work properly now. There was a chance I could get away, but where would I go? I was just in this void with this spotlight as the only light source. Thomas looks at me gratefully. He sighs, looking to the ground again.
"We arrived on the island with the help of a pixie named tinkerbell. When we landed here, we were immediately attacked by a creature. The same creature that had attacked you. This creature took me away and nearly killed me, Peter found and tried to save me. I couldn't speak to warn him of the dangers of trying to save me. This monster was inside, it had possessed me, and it was fighting to get out. The creature that possessed me, was using my body as a host to create another creature. The wounds I had weren't from the outside of my body, they were the monster from inside. I wanted Peter to stay away from me." I gasp loudly. He lets out a small laugh and continues.
"A tree with magical abilities told Peter he could save me, telling him to use his body as a host for my spirit. What the tree didn't realize was I was a host for that creature. I'm surprised the tree didn't realize it. If my spirit was taken from me the creature would take full control. Once my spirit was put into Peter's we fought and I had lost, I had become his shadow." He explained. I listened intently to his story.
"A body has a light and dark side to it. With the process of two spirits in one body, there is a chance these sides will balance, but in this case I had taken his dark side, and had he taken my light. My mind was filled with cruel evil thoughts, while Peter was the good happy person. I played along to his happy games, I was his conscience. I could hear his thoughts since we shared the same body. When Wendy had come along, my shadow self made up a plan to hurt everyone.
When Peter's heart was broken by Wendy that was my chance to take control of his body." Thomas' eyes glazed, I could see on his face that he regretted every bit of this. I felt bad I judged him too quickly, this man is nothing like the shadow. This is Thomas, a victim, who was controlled by his own darkness. I rest my hand on his, he grabs my hand and holds it. He looks up at me a gives me a slight sad smile.
"Thomas this wasn't your fault, none of it was. Peter didn't know how injured you were." I say to him, he shakes his head.
"Peter knew the consequences of sharing a body, the tree had warned him. Peter is stubborn, he will always get what he wants, eventually. But when it comes to family he'll sacrifice himself in a heartbeat, without any thought." Thomas spoke, his voice was so hoarse, it made my heart ache.
"When I took control." He continued his story. "I did something terrible."
He paused, and looks up at me with painful regret, "I killed Wendy Darling, and attempted to kill everyone in camp."
In shock, I couldn't move, I stared at Thomas with my mouth open. "Luckily, the boys stopped me."
"But I thought.." Words escape my mouth.
"That she ran away?" Thomas finished my sentence. "Peter only said that because if he had told the truth everyone would blame him and think he had gone mad. We shared the same body, when I had control I still looked like Peter." I hug my knees with my right hand and my left held his. It makes sense, but I don't get why he didn't tell Scott the truth. They're so close, Scott would've believed him.
"How did he explain to the boys why he tried to kill them?" I asked him.
"I was walking to camp, and Peter knew what I was about to do, he tried to take control again and fought me. He almost killed himself in the process. The boys saw him 'trying to kill himself', so they stopped me." He gripped my hand, and looked away in shame. "No one really questioned it."
I hesitated to ask.
"How did the shadow kill Wendy?" He looked at me surprised I had called him the shadow as if it were a different person. The shadow is a different person, he's bad and Thomas is good.
"I threw her body off a cliff after a sword went through her heart." He hid his head in his hugged knees and let go of my hand. He glanced up at my shocked face.
"I must explain to you something I forgot to tell you earlier." He paused. "When the tree had done this to Peter and me, we had taken a portion of the trees power and magic. If you must know, Peter is unbelievably powerful with this magic. Now think, if we only took a portion of that power, the tree must be much more powerful. But Peter has no idea how to use it.
When I had taken over his body I had this power, so I used it to escape and become my own being. I had taken half of his power. Peter still has no idea how to use it, sometimes he uses it on accident. Like that time he saved you from that mermaid incident. His power is controlled through his emotions."
I think for a moment, why is he telling me all this?
"When I seperated, our bodies we were back to the balanced dark and light. The shadow part of me hated having the light side so he had put me in the back of his mind in a cage. This void I should say, using magic to keep me here." He explained.
"So you're the light side and the shadow is the dark side? This doesn't make sense." I scratched my head in frustration.
"Magic is complicated, the more power you have the more you can use it do to anything you want." His eyes laid on me as I looked at my feet.
"Why are you telling me all this?" I question him. He smiles and his hand squeezes mine softly.
"I told you my story, and now I want you to help me." Thomas pleaded, I thought for moment. What if this is a trap? It couldn't be, Thomas is a good person.
"I'll help depending on what I'm going to help you with." I reply, he smiles at me, full of hope.
"I want to take control of this shadow, if I do I can stop all this nonsense." He leans in close to me holding both my hands. "And to do it I need a special flower."
"Okay, seems easy enough, where do I find it?" I ask him, he wants to stop this, all of it. I need to help him.
"You can't find it like you would a normal flower, its hidden, only one person knows where it is." Squeezing my hand and leaning in closer to speak. "Only Peter knows where it's hidden."
"The shadow wants it too doesn't he?" I say to Thomas, he nods.
"If the shadow gets ahold of it, he'll have the power to destroy anything he wants and no one can stop him." I felt a shiver go down my spine.
"A flower can do that?" He shakes his head.
"Not the flower, but the power trapped in the plant. The tree had put his power into the flower, and gave it to Peter, it's his job to protect it, not use it. If anything got ahold of it, it's not good. If I used a small drop of its power I can overthrow the shadow's power, and be normal again. I can be with my brother." He sits back down.
"How can you speak to me if the shadow is in control?" I ask laying on my back, Thomas sits back casually.
"I can give out dreams, and tell you things without the shadow knowing." That explains alot.
"Those nightmares you gave me, those were warnings weren't they?" I question him.
"I'm sorry for the nightmares, but yes I was the one behind them. I was trying to warn you of the dangers of the shadow." He confesses with his head down.
"Thank you." I whisper.
"I know this will be hard for you, but it's for a great cause." Thomas stands up and pulls me up with him. "I want you to get close to Peter, as close as you can to him, emotionally, physically mentally... I don't care either way the closer you get to him the closer you get to the flower. He may show it to you or you'll have to find it yourself. I'll help in anyway I can." He gives me a big hug.
"Our time together is up, I believe in you. Please don't fail me."
"I wouldn't even think of it." I tell him as he and the light disappears, and I was left all by myself in the darkness.
"I have to get close to Peter.. to save the world and Thomas." I tell myself.
