Hearing Easter shout out behind her about not touching anything left a small smirk on Lauren's face; of course she wasn't going to, she wasn't stupid.

I would never contaminate your crime scene, we all want this lunatic behind bars. She thought to herself.

Easter was her and Benjamin's friend. Out of everyone in the Precinct she was glad that Easter was there. Ben was certainly a help, although they had to remain strictly professional whilst at work, and besides he was always on Patrols anyway and he was only ever at the Precinct when one of the Detectives needed him. That made things easier for Lauren, otherwise she'd more than likely want a cuddle from her partner and reassurance that her colleagues didn't hate her all the time; luckily enough Easter did that for her, which always put her at ease.

Oh the disdain.

Just seeing a glimpse of the expression on her Detective's face as she was leaving it was evident that Mason wasn't impressed that she was coming with them to the crime scene, then again why should he be? He simply thought she was some sort of desk monkey, and that she didn't actually have anything relevant to input because she wasn't a Detective. Knowing her co worker, he probably would assume that she'd get in the way of those doing their jobs there; that she'd contaminate the evidence - god was he wrong. She had every reason to be there, fuck she might even be able to contribute, and there was no way in hell that she was just going to sit in an office, barking orders at her colleagues rather than accompanying them down to an actual crime scene, taking a look at things for herself. Laura figured that perhaps by being at a crime scene she may be able to delve into the killer's mindset, tracking his MO. Lauren wasn't squeamish, so she wasn't worried about the blood, any dismembered body parts etc, as she'd already seen it all; not to mention the female had piles upon files of paperwork with a bunch of other cases on her desk, both at the office and at home. She could handle almost everything - she just genuinely wanted to help; that was her job, along with overseeing everything else with this investigation.

The Precinct was already disorganised enough as it was; especially with the absence of her officials, i.e the Captain and DA. She had to ensure that regardless if the rest of her team didn't think highly of her due to her age, she'd do her job - that was making sure that no more murders were committed, and the serial killer was behind bars, being prosecuted by her in the court of law. It was crucial that they all worked together in order to close this investigation on Cedar City for good.

Some would question what the hell a Deputy District Attorney had to do at a crime scene anyways - and to be frank they had every right to, although in all fairness it wasn't actually any of their business either. Lauren wasn't like most in her field of work; yes she was a lawyer, and yes, she had no solid reason to be at the crime scene but fuck, she wasn't stupid, nor was she just going to let her colleagues attend without her present. She may not of had a degree in Forensics, although she did Master in Criminology, Psychology and Law at College - surely her intelligence would be of assistance somewhere. You didn't always need to be a Homicide Detective, Forensic Analyst or Cop to be able to make input to her team. Majority figured that her job simply was to question and do paperwork, and whilst they were correct to a certain extent, Lauren had so much more than that to offer, and she was certain that the Captain saw this in her - hence why she was assigned primary jurisdiction over this investigation to begin with in the first place. The female continued to drive through Cedar City's traffic, her heater on because it was a little chilly outside. Shit, she hated driving when there was traffic - most of the time she was patient although because there had been yet again, another murder, Lauren just wanted to get to the crime scene immediately before reporters started showing up. That wouldn't look good for the CCPD at all. Fortunately enough, due to her leaving before the rest of her colleagues she'd arrive before them, hopefully being able to secure the perimeter, shooing away any civilians that weren't supposed to be there. Momentarily she arrived, putting her car at a halt and turning the engine off, parking in one of the nearby side streets, noticing that a couple squad cars were parked too - Lauren exited her vehicle ensuring to lock the doors as she proceeded to the crowd. Fuck, people had already started gathering here.

Lauren's brown eyes scanned the perimeter as she saw a few familiar faces - she believed it was the same woman from earlier that had slapped Mason, and perhaps Audrina, along with another young male, if correct Oliver, the deceased Kiera Reville's sibling. Laura had read his file, she truly felt for him. The female watched as they pushed through the crowds; she'd need to get in there ASAP. Laura paced over, her breath shuddered as the harsh wind blew against her skin. She attempted to get through the crowd; no luck. She grit her teeth, scanning the area yet again watching officers attempt to control more citizens enter the crowd and the crime scene. She needed to think fast. Lauren reached for her pocket, hopefully this would work. The female grabbed her badge, it had CCPD written on it and that was all that mattered; no one would read that she wasn't a Detective, they'd see CCPD and leave, not risking themselves getting charged. What mattered right now was getting everyone to leave and letting the Officers deal with the rest. Bellowing her voice she pulled her badge out ensuring to get the attention of everyone in the crowd "CCPD! I need everyone to leave the crime scene immediately! Those that do not have official business or wish to file statements, please disperse in the opposite direction and officers will be with you shortly. We are securing the perimeter, and those that are found trespassing will be charged!" Concluding what she was saying, she watched as onlookers mumbled and began to move away, the crowd slowly disappearing, just enough for her to get a look at the body and immediately she noticed that things were different from the last murder. She'd studied the images long enough to be able to recognise that things were out of place. Her colleagues better arrive soon. Lauren had done something to keep citizens away for now, however there was no guarantees how much longer she'd be able to keep it under control until the others arrived. Hopefully that would be soon, and they certainly had much more to solve now; especially if what she saw was correct, although she could've been wrong too.

Best let Easter handle that. Just in her eyes it looked like a new MO.
