To say Aaron had thought everything through was not true. Though he liked to be light hearted, his mind was sharper than he would let on. However, after his call everything seemed to shut down. He had walked off without Mason, normally they would have taken the same car but to Aaron, his partner was taking too long. Aaron pulled the keys from his pocket and climbed into the car and took off. Sirens blaring, dodging around traffic as best as he could and as fast as he could. Some people were plain idiots. Didn't know when to move to the side of the road. Sitting at traffic lights as if that would get them to where they were going just as fast. He laid on the horn for people who was oblivious to the red and blue lights trying to get through. No one dared to honk back but they got the point and pulled over as best as they could. Lunch time was perhaps one of the worst times of day to be out on the road.
Did Aaron really take it in? Not really. His face was one of pure determination.
He finally made it to the Mayor's Office. People stood around looking like lost sheep. Trying to see what happened. Aaron had to push his way through and people were slow to step aside.
Twats. Aaron thought as he neared the front of the crowd he heard a voice begin yelling over the mass of people. It was a females voice. He pushed through and noticed a familiar brunette. His first thought was how the hell did she get here before me? He turned his brown eyes onto the red head he had seen hardly half an hour before now. She was looking over the body, the body of a familiar figure.
Their uncle.
Aaron swore under his breath. He was hoping his sister had been mistaken.
She had not.
Aaron stepped forward towards the brunette who was trying to move the crowd back. Aaron pulled out his badge and held it in his hand. "Lauren, I have a question..." He paused a moment and opened the wallet that held the badge, "Do you have one of these shiny things?" He asked looking rather innocent. "You know... They are kinda cool, they allow you to put up the cool crime scene tape... And clear crowds... They let you onto the crime scene all together..." He looked at his badge lovingly before replacing it back in his pocket, "If you don't have one... You are part of the civilians... And need to get off the crime scene."
A couple deputies showed up and Aaron called them over, "Can you show Miss O'Rouke off the crime scene?" He asked before turning to his sister. "Hey..." He offered a faint smile and knelt down next to the corpse. "Sorry, but you're going to have to leave too before Mason shows up." He stood back up and sighed with a shake of his head.
"Damn it." He muttered angrily. He ran his fingers through his brown hair looking around. Part of him was flooding with anger but he knew he could do nothing about it right now. So many people around. He was a Detective, he didn't need to show any sort of weakness. He shoved his hands in his pockets and began looking around the scene.
He didn't see a note... That was odd.
