So it appeared that Lauren's little unofficial and total out of jurisdiction evacuation was working as citizens who had formed a massive crowd over the body were slowly beginning to disappear, and the crowd that himself and the other Deputies were controlling was falling back. Good. Some control over here finally - CCPD never had any issues with crowd control, although it seemed that ever since the serial killer began their murderous rampage people were just starting to get out of control; always wanting to dive head first into the authorities business - their business ensuring that it wasn't one of their loved ones that had ended up mutilated on the ground.

Benjamin could understand why everyone wanted to know, as he would too - however it was especially irritating as an officer when you were doing the best you could to isolate and contain a crime scene when people would not co operate with you and back away from the scene, only making things worse. Thankfully, Lauren did what she had to do and Ben knew that - no doubt she was going to be told not to do it again later by him when they got home - she knew better and he wasn't going to let her off the hook for this one, but it seemed that Detective Black had already done that for him as before Benjamin knew it, Lauren was no longer standing where she was before and had walked away - Ben losing her in the distance. Good - she was doing her job now, he'd catch up with her later once and if he got any spare time to do so.

The crowd of people that Benjamin and a couple of the other Deputies were holding back started to give up and stopped pushing through, attempting to claw their way to the body. Being the nosy citizens they were. God, some people simply didn't get it. However as people were dispersing from the crowds, this made everything so much easier for them as now it was only very few persistent individuals who insisted on being let through - keep that up and he might have to make an arrest today, not that he intended to of course, however protocol was protocol and if citizens refused to listen to direct orders from the CCPD then they'd have to be escorted away, potentially even detained. Ben put his arm down, as the person that he was restraining from entering decided that they had given up and were going to leave. Thank goodness... He thought to himself shaking his arm a little, glancing at the other Officers around him.

So it seemed that the crowds were really going away and people were leaving - his eyes quickly scanned the perimeter only to notice that The Channel 5 Van had pulled up and it seemed as though they were doing a live broadcast. God damn it, not what they needed right now - that self absorbed fucking story twisting reporter, god he hated her and the report that she did on John. Letting out a small sigh he looked to the other Deputies who gave him the all clear nod, the area was secure and he could go elsewhere. Nodding back Benjamin began to move in the opposite direction, adjusting his radio to his front shirt pocket, feeling his phone vibrate he finished adjusting his radio and pulled out his phone and unlocked it, reading the text from Channing, tapping on the screen sending a quick reply.

To: Channing Rogers
Message: Hey... It's okay Channing, we all understand.
Lauren and I are here if you need anything.
I'll check on you after work.
Something's going on at the Mayor's Office.
Please stay safe x
From: Benjamin Keith Stephens

Being cautious not to let her know that there had been another murder, as he knew that she already was in a very fragile state, he didn't want her to worry anymore. Finishing the text he placed his phone into his back pocket and continued to walk, noticing his partner had arrived on scene. About fucking time. Benjamin jogged towards Casey, giving him a tap on the back squeezing his shoulder before letting out a small chuckle. "Nice of you to show up Casey, how you holding up?" he asked, flashing an encouraging grin. He was glad that he was here; they needed to be in this together.

Casey returned a smile back at Ben. But he still looked worn out. "You wouldn't believe the traffic on the way here." He said popping a breath mint in his mouth. "The roads were so crowded, I practically had to grow wings and fly over here." He chuckled. He looked over Ben's shoulder and saw the Channel 5 Van and let out a groan. "Looks like our favorite headache showed up, as planned." He said sarcastically.

Casey couldn't stop thinking about the story Channel 5 did on John. He started to shake slightly while trying to contain himself. "I swear to god, I'm gonna go off on them if they try anything." Casey mumbled to himself.

Flashback

"Rookie, If theres one thing you're ganna need to have if you're ganna make it in this line of work, is patience." John told him back in Casey's first month on the Job. They were in their squad car, driving back to the station after Casey lost his temper and screamed at a reporter who kept pushing their boundaries after both John and Casey told them no comment and to step back. They fished for statements instead of asking questions, alot of it was using personal details of not only the victim of the case back then, but of John's family.

A young, fresh faced officer Casey sat in the front seat of the squad car, while John drove. Casey was gazing outside the window of the car as John lectured him. "Are you even listening to me?" John asked. Casey turned on the radio, "Yuup." he replied in a bored tone. "Oh really? What did I say?" John asked, turning the radio off. Casey turned to face John, His eyes widened and in a panicked tone, he screamed "Look out!". John immediately slammed on the breaks, causing the cars behind them to slam on theirs aswell. John turned to look at what Casey saw, but there was nothing there. John's face grew red with anger "What the hell is wrong with you?!" He screamed at Casey. "John, you should calm down. I'm just enforcing my freedom of speech to inform you of a scenario I may or may not know anything about. Given common patterns of automobile wrecks in this exact area. Have some patience with my ignorance, how was I supposed to know there wasnt a car heading straight for us." Casey said calmly, turning the radio back on. John pulled over to the side of the road. The cars that were behind them started to move on.

"Look, Rook..." John paused, he saw Casey was getting more agitated by constantly being called, Rookie. "Casey, I'm not saying that what they're doing is right. It upsets me too. But what the people don't need to see. Is the force thats there to protect and serve them, acting emotionally unstable or hostile about the situation on television" John explained. Casey didn't respond, The radio was the only thing breaking the silence between the two of them. John turned on the car and continued to drive back to the station.
