Ch. 26

          Peridot's Pov

   I was shaking so hard that Im pretty sure I shaked the little pride I had left right out of me. ' I know it is ridiculous to think about, but what if the crystal gems can't protect everyone and everything this time.... what if they can't protect Steven?' My eyes burned as tears welled in my eyes. I sucked it up to look as brave as possible ads the ship door opened. Revealing rows and rows of Quartz soldiers. Mostly Jasper's and bigger versions of Amethyst with short hair. I trembled in fear.

      "LEAVE OUR PLANET NOW OR GET YOUR ASS-TRERIODS BEAT!!!!!!!!!!" Garnet yelled loudly and threatening like. "Yeah beat it!" and "Your not welcome here!" Soon came from Amethyst and Pearl who stepped up in front with Garnet. 

       "Is this all?" One of the bigger soldiers said with a chuckle. "There could be TWO of us and we'd still win!!!!" Laughed another. All the soldiers started laughing. "ENOUGH!!!!!" Screamed the biggest one there. It was a Jasper of course. 

        Steven's Pov

    I held my shield ready to widen it if they tried to suprise attack. The bigger gems were in front of us but I could still protect them the best I could. "Time to get this over with." The seem-to-be leader mumbled under her breathe. It wasn't long after I heard a deep loud "CHAAAAAARRRGGE!!!" The gems summoned their weapons as they ran to the already charging soldiers.  I saw leggy run up as well with a dagger with ridged edges and she stabbed into the back of an unsuspecting Amethyst. I heard loud footsteps from behind me and turned around soon enough to dodge a attack I yell for lion who arrived and brought me my mothers sword. I jumped over the Jasper who charged at me and got close enough to Stab the sword right into her chest missing the gem by an inch. 

   I pick the gem up with hesitation from what I would do next I place it back on the ground a position my foot above it my eyes water as I am about to shatter a gem. "Steven!" I turn around peridot using her powers to stab a piece of medal into a quartz who was right behind me.

   "Be Careful!" She shoved me lightly. "I can't loose to to a piece of gravel." Her face was serious. She looked down at the gem that i was standing over. "Oh." Is all the escaped her mouth. "If you don't want to shatter them, you don't have to. But it needs to be done." She then placed her foot over it and smashed the gem with all her force. 

    "They are invading Steven, there is no reason to keep bad gems hanging around to just regenerate later. We need to win." Peridot Kissed Steven on the cheek as his eyes formed tears while looking at the shattered gem.  'I can't do this....' Steven thought.
