"He never told me any of this!"

"Why would he tell you?"

Hanna was furious, I knew by the way she was breathing on the other end of the line.

"So I can stalk him and publish his life story on the local newspaper," she said sarcastically. "Of course it's because we're friends, stupid!"

I rolled my eyes. "Technically, him and your soon-to-be-boyfriend are friends, not you."

"You are soon-to-be-smacked if you don't stop shipping me with that ladykiller."

I snorted at her threat. "You can't get any more unoriginal."

"Stuff that. We've got more important things to do."

I lifted an eyebrow. "Such as?"

"Such as celebrating your victory in making the Cameron Anderson crazy for you!" she squealed.

"You know I don't like him anymore right?" I reminded her. I rolled over onto my stomach as I held the phone pressed against my ear.

"Ugh! I don't understand you! He freaking rejected the life he was given on a silver platter to run after you, and the second he does, you stop crushing on him?!" I could literally see her pulling her hair out.

"He was a jerk to me," I shrugged. "It's a huge turn off."

"He's a jerk to everyone, get over it!" she shrieked. After a few breaths to calm down, she continued. "He had a pretty good reason to be like that. Think about it, he broke off the engagement and turned down his chance to be a business typhoon. Why? To return to you. When he came back two months later, where were you? Certainly not here. When he didn't see you here, how else do you reckon he should have reacted other than hating on you?"

I bit my lip. I felt bad that he did all that for me, but my feelings wouldn't change. "And what made him stop hating me?"

"Probably when I told him your side of the story of why you left.  You had your reasons, he just didn't know them. I guess he saw that hating you wasn't the best reaction, I mean I did the same thing too."

"Look, I just don't feel it for him. Maybe what I felt back then was nothing more than a childish crush or a temporary infatuation."

She took in a deep breath, as if preparing herself to give me a good, long lecture. Sensing mortal danger for my ear, I racked my brain for an excuse to hang up.

'Hurry before she blows!'

"Grace! You're such an idi-"

"Mom's calling! Gotta go now, bye!"

It wasn't exactly a lie, she was actually calling me.

"Gracie, I have to do some research  for my new project," she told me as I entered the living room. She was sitting on a stool at the breakfast counter with a steaming mug.

"Okaaay?" how does that concern me?

"And so I was wondering, wanna come with? All we're doing is checking out all the jewellery shops in as many malls as we can go to. And who knows, we might even get 'distracted' and end up getting dresses as well," she air quoted with a smug look. My face lit up. It's was no secret that I loved shopping, and malls were my kind of heaven.

"Throw in a couple of new lip glosses and I'm in!" Truth is, I was already up for the plan.

"We'll go after you come back from school," she decided. I nodded and picked up my bag.

"I'll see you later then."

~ooooOOOoooo~

I was so proud of myself for having one of the most normal school days I've had in a while. Nothing unexpected popped up, and therefore, it could be considered as an overall relaxing day.
