~ooooOOOoooo~

"Dibs on the bathroom!"

"H-hey! But I was up first!" Hanna paid no heed to my protest, but instead unzipped herself out of her sleeping bag and dashed for the bathroom.

It had been at least a half hour since I was awake. I was watching the television on mute so I wouldn't wake her up.

Apparently, being considerate is paid for differently in my cousin... stepsister's world.

We had scooted my bed against the furthest wall and took out one of my side tables to make space in my room.

"Ack," she cursed incoherently. "I forgot my toothbrush!"

I snickered. "Go ahead, use your fingers, or try your hairbrush. They'll do the job just as well."

"Ha ha, very funny," she slid the door open and stood with her hands on her hips.

"Oh fine, I've got extras in the bathroom drawer."

"Come to think of it, I didn't pack my hairbrush either. And...hey, you'll let me borrow your tampons, right? And your deodorant?" she looked up hopefully.

"Oh hell no! My hairbrush off-limits," I exclaimed. "But help yourself to the tampons and deodorant."

"Thank God," she sighed and picked up the anti-perspirant spray from my side table. "I'll finger comb my hair, no problem. But walking around leaking blood and sweat-" she shook her head vigorously. "That's just a crime as a girl."

She left the door of the bathroom open as she brushed her teeth. She figured she didn't need a bath since she took one right before bed last night.

"Hey! Leave some for me too!" I leaped off the bed to save my deodorant from the monster. Who the hell takes a bath in that?!

"Don't be stingy! I need this shit," she grabbed it back from me.

"It just so happens I too need it, and you probably used up more in one burst than I did my entire life," I grabbed it back, but she didn't let go.

"Why don't you try having excess sweating as one of your premenstrual syndromes?"

I sighed and let go. "Are we seriously fighting over a bottle of deodorant?"

She smirked as she held it up in victory before letting out short bursts under her other arm. "But this made one thing clear; we need two of everything or we'll end up ripping each other's hair out."

I quickly brushed my own teeth. "By the way, how'd you forget to pack so many important things?"

"My stepparents- I mean, ex-stepparents- said things that caught me off guard."

I raised an eyebrow. "What kind of things?"

"They were telling me about how they lost their son. He didn't make it past his first week in this world, it horrified them and made them jealous of parents with their own children," she softened. "They decided to adopt. But once they did, it was hard for them to treat that child like their own."

She dazed off for a moment, but snapped back. "Whatever, I bet it's all complete and utter nonsense they cooked up. It doesn't justify how they treated me. And plus, I'm over it."

She smiled at me. "I've got a new life now. And I'm going to love it."

After throwing on a loose top that fell off a shoulder, I un-muted the t.v. Morning cartoons were quite entertaining. We both jumped on the bed and tuned in with the cute bunny trying to...do whatever it was doing.
