"Priorities, Grace! We should stop by the food court first," Hanna insisted that was the right thing to do.

"What if I find the perfect dress and fall short of money because I ate with it?" I whined.

"That's the whole point. Knowing you, you'd spend all your money on a dress instead of lunch."

I dragged my feet as I walked behind my leading step-sister. She might have a point, but I had no clue what she was getting at.

We could eat anytime, right? But dresses were rare. You hesitate for even a second, and that piece of beauty will be stolen right from under your nose.

When Hanna stopped to recheck the directory, I spotted a boutique in the row of shops.

I sped into the shop before she could turn around and hid between the skirts of the racks. I watched her through the window as she panicked, rotating in circles to look for me.

I pulled out my phone to send her a text.

"I win."

She growled as she checked the text. When she looked up, she read the names of the shops nearby until she found the only one I could possibly be in; Maricella's Boutique.

She huffed and stomped inside. I smiled innocently. "Is something wrong?"

She rolled her eyes. "Let's get this over with." She disappeared between the racks.

"I just want to buy us the perfect Prom dresses. The more time we have before the dance, the better dress we find," I taught her through experience, knowing she was nearby and could hear me.

I found her gawking at a gorgeous floor length dress. Its deep purple shade gave it a mysterious aura. "You. Try it on. Now," I ordered.

She gulped nervously when I draped the dress on her arms and shoved her into a changing room.

When she emerged, I knew we had our first accomplishment of the day. The dress fit her body, complimenting her defined hips perfectly. Its thin straps gave her a chance to show off her beautiful complexion and strong collarbones.

"Yep, it's official. You look like a queen. We're getting that."

She blushed softly, silently agreeing that it worked wonders on her.

Looking through the racks for my kind of a dress, I let out an annoyed sigh. "Seriously, I'm not planning to go as barbie. Don't they have something elegant?"

"You are dead set on hot pink, you didn't expect to look like royalty in that colour, right?" Hanna pointed out. "Maybe we should try a different colour?"

I tsked and flipped my hair. And that's when I saw it; it literally had glittering stars inviting me to have a closer look.

A fiery red floor length was snuggled between many dresses on the rack. I tapped Hanna on her shoulder without breaking eye contact with the piece of beauty.

I reached for its hanger and pulled it towards me. Right at that moment, I felt a tug from the other side and it almost slipped out of my grasp. I tugged on it harder, and it pulled back with just as much force.

I looked over the racks and came face to face with pale, round face. "Ah I'm so sorry! Were you going to take this?" the girl's cheeks flushed.

"Uhh, yeah. Did you have your eyes on it too?" I asked from over the racks. I let go of the hanger and she pulled the dress out. Running across her side and crossing over to mine, she held it out in front of me and examined it.
