ooooOOOoooo~
I found myself wandering on the streets in the late hours of the night. I shivered; running out didn't give me a chance to grab a jacket.
I touched my face lightly. 'Has this all come from my crying?'
The streaks of tears and the thin paths raindrops took on my face were indistinguishable.
There was no reason for hiding my sobs. No one was around. No one in their right minds would be wandering the streets at night, not to mention a rain as heavy as that would keep them indoors even in daytime.
But I wasn't going back. Seeing them again would only make me act rashly.
My beige evening dress was soaked completely and stuck to my body like a second skin. The sash around my waist kept it from falling off.
All the makeup on my face had washed off. That only left a wet face and slightly puffy red eyes.
My aimless wandering brought me to a children's park. Just like the streets, it was completely empty. The street lights weren't scattered anywhere near that place, making it darker than the rest of the town.
Touching the swing gently and watching it rock back and forth, I decided to have a seat.
It creaked against the loud rain patters as it supported my weight. Getting the hang of it I pushed myself slowly.
The breeze created by swinging felt cool on my warm cheeks.
I sighed, feeling another round of waterworks about to spill out of my eyes.
I abruptly halted swinging when the empty one next to me creaked on its own. My blurred eyesight couldn't make out much, except the empty swing rocking lightly.
On my other side, I heard an off-tune tapping against the pole.
"Wh-who's there?" the darkness and the tear-filled eyes proved impossible to make out even a silhouette.
A dark, manly chuckle came from behind me. I yelped and jumped off the swing, tripping on the bark in the process. Though the size of the cut would've been enough to scare me in a normal situation, it was the least of my worries at that moment.
"Dolly. Just a little fun," the man's voice was cracked. He sounded like a drinker. He stepped towards me and I shrieked.
Not noticing my dress caught under my heel, I stood up fast, ripping a long tear on the side of the dress.
I took slow steps backwards before falling into a sprint, running as fast as I could in heels. I glanced over my shoulder and made out the outlines of three men catching up quickly behind me.
I squeezed my eyes shut and continued to run, hoping for a miracle such as them falling into a ditch along the way.
I heard the snap of skin against skin and a pained grunt behind me.
My eyes still shut tightly, I didn't notice the building approaching in front of me and crashed headfirst into it. I held onto my forehead as I slumped against the cold bricks.
Desperately trying to see what was happening to the men, I rubbed my eyes and made out the outline of another man's fist digging deep into the last grunt's gut before pushing him and letting him fall.
He stepped over the three bodies knocked out cold on the grass as he approached me. He knelt in front of me and I got a glimpse of his face in the shine of a passing car's headlights.
His brown hair dripped with water as his eyes examined the wound in my forehead. I felt a streak of blood run down the side of my face.
"I'll be okay," I whispered, gathering all the energy I had left to see straight. But my vision continued to double and blur. "I'll just be...on...my..." I had to get home, but my eyes were closing against my will.
