Chapter XIV - Two Exes in a Row

"Hi...!" Vincent turns around to that familiar voice behind him. He didn't want to believe his eyes but she was really there, standing with her arms crossed in front of her before she lets them fall beside her as she walks towards him.

"It's been so long..." she says smiling her way towards him. He can still remember that very last time he held her...the last time he'd seen the woman he pictured his life with only to be left alone because he wasn't capable of providing her the life she'd wanted. They were young, he wasn't an heir that time, he was just a simple guy working his arse out to finish his studies while trying to make this woman happy and stay with him. He had been all by himself growing up. His father and mother died in an accident, it was not too long ago when his grandfather found him. He is his only heir as his mother appears to be the only child he had. A child he kicked out of his life after she fell in love with Vincent's mechanic father. His grandfather dressed him, educated him, and sent him to the best universities in Germany to be the man that he is now. A man that any woman, such as the woman in front of him now would run after...

It has been 10 years now.

He had been twenty, and she had been 18 when he thought he owned the world having her in his life.

But he was wrong. She left him for her dream, left Germany to try her luck as a model in New York.

Yes, he had seen almost all of her works in the last ten years. Her commercials, her print ads, even the flop films she'd been in.

He immune himself watching her crawl her way up to her status now. Not that she's on a high level, Cathy is still just one of the wannabes. One of the nasty parts of his life he wouldn't want to go back to.

"I missed you, Vince..." she says touching the back of his hand softly. Hearing her call his nickname surprisingly disgusts him. He remembers now hearing a particular voice uttering the same name and feeling butterflies in his stomach...one particular lady he knows very well will never be one of those women who would run after him.

"What brings you here?" He asks raising an eyebrow at her. They were at the lobby of Davis Holding's main office. He just transferred all his files to this same building as it will also now be the same office that Walton group will be using since the companies have just merged.

"I...just want to talk to you, Vince..." she whispers shyly but he knows better.

"Yeah? I don't remember having an appointment with you, Ms. Krüger. If you wish to speak to me, you've to call my secretary and make an appointment." He says coldly as he walks past the tall blonde woman.

"Vince, come on... Don't treat me like this... It's been a decade, don't tell me you're still..."

"Yeah, it's been a decade that's why I don't understand why you're following me now after all these years. Had you not known before that I've become an heir to a multibillion dollar company?"

"Vince I'm not here for your money! I'm here to save you!" She raises her voice at him which made him glare at her. They are starting to get attention from the employees both of Davis and Walton groups.

"Save me? Haha! Where exactly, Cathy?" He dares her.

"You don't love that bitch, everybody in the world..." he was fast to grab her arm and pulls her in the corner after hearing her addressing Gabrielle the way she did.

"Vince...!"

"Don't you dare suddenly show up here talking about the things you know nothing about, Cathy!"

"Stop this Vince! I know you too well, that girl is not your type! I don't know what pressured you to marry her but I want you to know that I'm here now. You don't need to..."
