Chapter LXV - NAPPY MISSION

"Leave!!!" Again, his hand hits her hand so hard it instantly turns red before he puts his weight on one hand resting on the armrest of the wheelchair and lifts himself up.

"Vince, let me..."

"I can do it!!! I'm not as invalid as you'd like me to be!" He snaps as he stands on his own with wobbling legs. Then reaches for it before sitting down on its edge. Again, Gabrielle was quick to guard him should he fall.

"I said leave me alone!!!" Before I lock you up here...and not let you leave forever he adds mentally as he frowns deeply away from her face.

"What's your problem... Vince...?" Her voice was soft and he hears her sigh before feeling her warm palm on top of his shoulder.
Finally he looks at her and wishes he didn't, for seeing her misty eyes looking back at him is just pulling the strings that is pushing him to reach out for her face and cup her perfectly chiseled cheekbones so that he can feel her warmth and beauty in his hand. Of course he did his best not to do that and instead, he puts his hand on top of hers before taking it off from his shoulder.

"I hate it when you touch and talk to me this softly... it disgusts the hell out of my stomach." He says before throwing her hand away.

"You're not this soft and gentle woman, we both know that, Gabrielle. Just stop. You're making me feel more useless and disgusted when you act this way." He says with gritted teeth as he mentally slaps his face when he sees how much her eyes are tearing up now. The tears she's trying not to let down as she too, grits her teeth.

"I was never soft and gentle...but you were. At some point, you were. I just wanted to keep on hoping that this side of you is just because of the accident... and that's my biggest mistake..." she says in a whisper bowing her head to hide her tears as she looks at her finger before she continues.

"Cause you've been WORST even before the accident...so much worse than this and I wonder why I'm so stupid to accept that just now." With that, she looks up to him for one last time before she turns around and leaves him alone after gently closing the door.

Vincent throws his anger on the pillow as he keeps on punching it the way he would want himself to be punched.

He wanted to come after her, but he can't! He overworked himself too much today that he ended up falling on the cold marmol floor of his restroom before Gabrielle came to his rescue and struggled to bring him back to his wheelchair. She was quick to check on everything. For wounds, scratches or just whatever as he sat down on his wheelchair just minutes ago with her kneeling in front of him. Her hands scanning his body in a very professional way but the current it brought his veins were too much to handle and that reason alone pushed him to hit her again as she insisted to assist him to the bed.

Throwing his head in frustration, he curses loudly as her sad face linger in his memory.

Just this afternoon, they were just having fun with their daughter Nic for another movie date. They would watch at least one film in the entertainment room every day as Nic requested.

He was enjoying the live action version of Cinderella when he realized Gabrielle and Nic has already fallen asleep beside him. Vincent swore to God he has never seen a much more beautiful picture than his wife and daughter hugging each other as they travel to dreamland.

They had their dinner together and he wished that they could do breakfast and lunch too altogether.

And it was after dinner when he tried to practice walking alone again. At least five steps forward and back with the walker. When he thought he could already do it, he moved the walker and tried going to the bath alone. He was already inside, about to wash his face with one hand when his knees buckle up at exactly the same time Gabrielle comes in to him slumping on the floor. She was really quick to pull his wheelchair near and grabs his side to help him carry himself.
