Chapter LVI - MRS WALTON

"Gabrielle..." the lawyer appears before her in the living room much to her surprise.

He greets her with a warm smile before he puts the attaché case down on the table and reaches his hand out to her before frowning as she wipes the tears that ran down her cheeks. The lawyer then looks past her as his mouth opens in agape with the surprise that meets him from the pool area. The very reason why he is here today is right in front of him. Vincent Walton.

"I see that Mr. Walton came to you first..." Gabrielle looks behind her where Vincent is playing with her daughter in the pool area. What did the lawyer just mean by that?

"What do you mean?" The lawyer frowns before he nods and opens the attaché case.

"I'm afraid you need to return to England, Gabrielle. The company needs you."
She sniffs at that before gulping. The company never needed her in the past years, the company, just like what her father willed is being managed by Vincent who became the sole heir of everything after their divorce.

"I don't...get that, I'm sorry. I have no say on anything about the company anymore. It's Vincent's now...?" Is it...?! She asks herself mentally. To the lawyer, who has been her father's right hand man, the company is still hers...well, when he found out that she was pregnant with Nic, technically, the company will in no time be passed on to her daughter, but that is if she accepts it. Not that she won't, but not now. She had no bloody plans on returning to England to take over the company on behalf of Veronica's name being the sole heiress of everything her father left her with. Yes, technically, Veronica will be the heiress of the company as the marriage between her and Vincent is already divorced.

"And I've already mentioned it before, but I wouldn't mind reminding you that there is no way on Earth that I would take it over on behalf of my daughter. She's not even two years old yet. I wouldn't want to risk her life being the heiress..."

"Gabrielle... you need to return. The company is in turmoil not because Vincent is doing badly but because the stockholders are aiming for something bad. You have to take over, they just couldn't let your husband take over what is Davis'."

"He is not...! My husband." She snaps feeling the sudden palpitation of veins inside her head.

The lawyer sighed at that before finally opening the attaché case and handing to her a contract. A recently printed marital status of both her and Vincent.

"W-What is this..."

"I know you would hate me Gabrielle because of this... but even I couldn't let Vincent be the president of what is supposed to be Gabriel's daughter's inheritance. Plus, this is the only way I knew that could protect both you and Veronica..."

Gabrielle's hands that are holding the papers begin to shake as she reads them before throwing them on the table and she begins to hyperventilate. Fanning herself with her own hands, she stands up and begins to phase in front of the lawyer.

"Why... how could you..."

"He never signed the papers... He has been acting as the President but everything is still yours Gabrielle... not yet Veronica's."

"Why!!! You had one job!" She begins shaking in more fear now. This revelation would weaken her rights for her daughter. Vincent could very well fight for Veronica's custody now if he wishes to!

"Your job was to do what I ordered you to do!!!" She snaps leaning closer to the table to grab the marriage contract that is still very much valid and the supposed divorce papers she signed almost three years ago which are not even processed as it wasn't signed by Vincent. She has been deceived believing that she has Veronica all for herself!
