Mark's POV

Elise woke up saying she was scared of the dark and asked to sleep with us, climbing in between,

"Can you tell me a story?"

"Sure baby. Once upon a time-"

"Wait!" She hopped out of bed and ran to her room, grabbing her toy rabbit. "Okay, go." I laughed and Jack continued,

"Once upon a time there was... umm... a peasant who had a special job to watch people. One day the peasant was told to watch a handsome prince. The peasant was going to meet someone, but the prince showed up instead. The peasant really liked the prince and forgot he was supposed to watch him, instead the prince asked the peasant to live in the castle with him, he said yes."

Elise fell asleep halfway through the story, Jack had closed his eyes, still playing with her hair; I could finally sleep knowing my family was safe.

I woke up hugging Elise and Jack tightly, everyone was happy, but things were never happy, so I knew I had to savor the moment. She woke up so I continued the story,

"After a while the prince wanted to keep the peasant forever. So he asked him to be a prince with him, the peasant agreed. But before he could become a prince, the peasant's boss got mad that he wasn't watching the prince. Then some wizards used a magic spell to make them fall asleep."

Jack laughed, I guess he woke up during my story. Elise looked up at us and smiled,

"You hungry, Pumpkin?" She nodded, "How about some pancakes?"

"Mmmmm, yummy!" We all walked out to the dining room and Tobias made everyone pancakes. After breakfast we decided to go swimming in our new indoor pool. Elise was an odd girl, out of the 30 swimsuits we bought her she chose the plain black one, not the princess or the fairy. We all came out dressed in swimwear before Jack jumped in,

"Hop in, Cupcake. I'll catch you." She hesitated before he mouthed something and she smiled before jumping in. I joined them shortly after,

"Look at me! Look at me! I'm a mermaid!" Elise plugged her nose and put her face in the water.

"Good job, sweetheart!" Jack clapped, "Tobias made lunch, dry off and get dressed." Elise got out and ran to get dressed. I swam over to Jack and wrapped my arms around his waist, got really close to his ear and almost humming I whispered...

"What's for lunch?" Jack blushed and punched me in the shoulder,

"You!- Ugh, I think he said he was making Chicken Alfredo." I kissed him on the cheek before getting out, purposefully flexing in Jack's direction.

"Nice guns!"

"I know." I smirked, Jack laughed, "Hey... what did you mouth to Elise before she jumped into the pool?" I asked out of curiosity.

"Bí cróga, mo bláth. It's Irish."

"And Elise understood?"

"What?"

"She smiled and jumped in, only after you said that. So she understood?"

"Umm... Yes. Yes she did- Let's go eat."

"Oh- Okay."

"Look, Daddy! I made a smiley face!" Elise held up her plate, accidentally dumping it onto the table. "I'm sorry!" She was about to cry.

"No, baby. It's fine, we can just clean it up and-" Jack put a rag over it creating a bigger mess, "Oops, god dammit!"

"Jack! Language!" He blushed,

"Gah, sorry!" Jack took Elise up to her room while I tried to clean it up, Suzy started laughing at me,

"I've got it, Mark. Kids can be a handful." She smiled and started cleaning. I followed Jack and Elise upstairs.
