The next few weeks pass quickly without any big events.
I go over to Emi's house a lot, Cathy and I catch up with a few sleepovers, I learn to bake a cake!!!
Oh, yeah!
Conner, or "cute waiter boi" as Emi likes to call him, had asked me to hang out with the group a few more times, and now,
I'm going on a date with him.
I've finally decided to put Eithen aside and try to think about another boy for once.
Conner was super funny, sweet, and just easy to talk to. I could hang out with him without turning into a blubbering mess, he actually knows that I exist, he cares about me, and sometimes, he would even invite me to go down to Eric's and help with his shifts a bit, with Eric's permission obviously.
Our date is in two weeks, around the same time School orientation was going to happen. It was a bummer we had to wait for him to come back from the trip to New York his family was taking.
But he assured me, the second he gets back we're going on our date and nothing can stop him from doing otherwise.
I was nervous for it, seeing as it's going to be my first real date, ever, but I was also super nervous to start my Sophomore year of high school. I mean, I'm going to see Eithen again, but maybe Conner can get my mind off him and help me to fully move on. . .
July 29, 2006,
I awkwardly walk through the empty school corridors, scanning the tops of each locker as I searched for my own.
It's finally time to start school orientation and I've dreaded this day the past few weeks, seeing as it means that my summer is slowly slipping away.
111, 112, 113, 114...Ah! 117, that's mine.
I test out the locker pin that was on the hand out sheet the secretary had given to me and it opens perfectly fine.
Now all I have to do is get out of here and meet up with Emi for our coffee date.
Turning around, I let out a small yelp when I see Eithen standing right in front of me.
My eyes widen as he looks down at my small figure with a bright smile. I slowly take in his messy brown curls, twinkling eyes, and the loose Adidas sweat-shirt that he wore with his jeans.
"Sorry Saph', didn't mean to scare you," He says chuckling and my cheeks go red when I hear him call me by my old nickname.
Oh dear Lord and Savior save me now.
When I first met Eithen, I told him my name was Sapphire, only because I was going through my princess phase and wanted everyone to call me a princess name. My mama had helped me pick that one out and I went with it for almost two years.
Yes, it was stupid, but hey, I was only five!
Still, he actually thought that was my name until his mom started to get confused at why he always called me Sapphire or Saph. Even after he found out what my real name was, he always called me Saph,

"It can be our thing," Eithen says lifting up his pinky-finger and I blush.
I wrap my small pinky-finger around his and we bob our hands twice.
"Our thing," I say, smiling like an idiot at my seven-year-old crush.
*
"You, you didn't scare me," I say, looking down at my feet as I feel a small heat rush to my face, "I just didn't see you there."
