I don't really know why I do this anymore. . .ENJOY
******************************************************************************************************************************September twenty-third, 2007,
I lay on my bed boredly looking through a magazine. I sigh as I sit up and start to get dressed and think through the list of people that could keep me company. Eithen is out of town for a basketball tournament, Emi got dragged to Florida for some family business, and my dad is of course on another trip.
Then a person pops in my head and I check my contact info before clicking on Connor's name. I scroll through our previous text and my eyebrows furrow.
Sophia: Hey Con, hope things are going well with the look for Kai, how are things with Eithen, he hasn't really told me much.
Kai was that one boy that Connor was talking about that one time on the beach, he went missing a few days ago and Connor has been flipping his lid about it all this time so today he decided to finally go on a look out for him.
He didn't answer for sometime so I texted once again.
Sophia: Con?
Connor: Yeah?
Sophia: You okay?
Connor: Yeah fine ty.
I furrow my eyebrows and sigh before I shrug my shoulders and finish getting dressed before I walk out to my car. It was almost midnight but I didn't really care and I was worried about Connor. I bob my head to the radio as I drive on towards Connor's dad's house.
When I make it to his house I walk right in, not really caring about waking anyone cause I new their dad was always out and they never slept. As I walk up the stair I smile when I step in front of Connor's bedroom door. Knowing he would be slightly annoyed I still slammed the door open and stood in all my glory.
"SLEEEEP OVER!!!" I scream out and smile brightly.
But my smile fades when I see a boy sitting very close to Connor. The boy wrenches away from Connor in fear and he shakes his head wildly. Connor looks over from the bright blue eyed boy and lightly glares at me.
"W-What did I just walk into?" I say frightfully, knowing that I ruined a moment between Connor and the boy.
"Hi Soph," Connor says sorta strained and smiles awkwardly at me.
"Hi Con," I say and my words hang in the air for a few heartbeats.
The silence is forgotten when A distant shriek is heard, slowly becoming louder.
"SOPHIAAAAAA!!!"
This continues until Alex appears into the room as well and she hugs me tightly. I struggle to breath as I faintly hug her bag.
"Ummmm. . ." Connor provides and I stare at him blankly.
"It's almost midnight and you want to spend the night?" he says with a raised brow.
"Well you weren't answering my text," I offer and Alex finally stops cutting off the circulation in my arms.
Connor forces on a smile and tries to nicely explain to me that I should spend the night at his mom's. Alex wanted to come as well so she runs off to go get packed and I walked fully into the room.
"Who's this?" I ask softly as I sit on the edge of his bed.
"This is Kai my,my. . .Friend," Connor says and forces another smile.
I click in my head that this is the Kai, a.k.a the boy of Connor's dreams and genuinely smile towards Kai.
"Hi Kai, I'm Sophia," I say sweetly and nervously smile, "I'm sorry for scaring you like that."
Kai is cuddled up against the headrest and he was holding tightly onto a blanket.
"It's okay," he says quietly and nods.
Just then Alex runs back into the room, all packed up.
"You ready Sophia?" she asks excitedly and I turn my head and nod.
"I'll see you tomorrow Con," I say and stand up before hugging him tightly.
He smiles and waves, not even saying a goodbye to Alex before he closes the door after we walk out.
Alex looks at me with raised eyebrows and huffs before knocking on his door.
"Madame?" Connor asks as he opens the door and Alex places a hand on her hip before glaring at him.
"C'mere," he says and hugs her tightly.
I smile happily and quietly sneak downstairs to give them some alone time. Eventually Alex runs down the stairs and meets me at the bottom.
"Let's roll," she says happily and we walk out to my car.
Alex immediately blast the radio as we drive towards her mom's house, singing karaoke the entire time and I smile happily as I think back to Connor. I really hope things with him and Kai workout amazing.
