Chapter 7 - Oh, Hi Connor
Sophia is bored.
Resting her head in her arms, she leans heavily against her desk while humming along to the music coming from her headphones.
"I had a few, got drunk of you and now I'm wasted,
And when I sleep I'm gonna dream of how you-"
Sophia groans silently before glancing up at the clock above the door. There are fifteen more minutes left of this class, which means another fifteen minutes of mindless daydreaming and maybe dozing off.
She huffs before looking up at the board to see if there's anything important she was missing, but once again her teacher, Mr. Blume - A short man with a balding head and round glasses - was still deeply explaining the importance of the great wolf extinction and how we need to blah, blah, blah, blah, blah-
The bell rings and Sophia rips her headphones from her ears, throwing them in her backpack as she books it out of her second to last class of the day with a scowl on her face.
Something about today has Sophia feeling quite bitter. It may or may not have to be with a certain popular neighbor of hers, or simply Mr. Blume's dreadfully boring class. Either way, Sophia had to stop herself from running to the nearest locker and slamming her head against it.
Ignoring her harmful thoughts, Sophia makes her way down the hall, intent to spend her last free period of the day taking advantage of the school's giant library. Ema still has one more class for the day, but Sophia promised her earlier to wait so it was either sit and wallow in her own self-pity on a bench or do so with a new book or two in hand.
Sophia groans as the heavy school books in her backpack weigh down on her shoulders. With a grumpy little huff, she turns the corner, gasping as another body slams into her own.
"Oh my, I'm so sorr- Connor?"
Sophia's eyes widen as she looks up at the twin brother of her crush, the boy rubbing his shoulder in pain before he looks up at the sound of his name. Shock morphs his face as he stares down at Sophia, hand freezing over his sore spot for just a moment before dropping.
He looks just like Eithen, the only way Sophia could tell the difference between the two when they were kids being his green eyes and that one freckle that rests alongside the bridge of his nose.
"Uh, hi-hi, Soph'." Connor looks Sophia over with equally wide eyes as she takes in his disheveled form, holding back a smirk at the dark trenchcoat covering his clothes, hair flying up in all different directions from under the familiar grey beanie that sits upon his curls. Sophia remembers that beanie, seeing as she was the one who bought it for him for his seventh birthday. Her eyes then catch sight of the small teddy bear held tightly in his hands and she can't hold back the curiosity from growing on her face.
Connor catches the way her eyes linger on his hands and he lifts up the teddy bear with an awkward chuckle.
"Oh, yeah," He looks at the stuffed smile with a coy smile on his lips. "Mrs. Garcia."
What?
Sophia holds back a painfully awkward laugh, biting her lip and simply nodding as the grip on her backpack strap tightens.
"Uhm, well-"
Sophia decides to end the pain there, simply cutting him off by shoving past Connor and making a quick run down the opposite hall, not looking back to see the confusion and pain written on the other twin's face.
