September ninth, 2007,
"Hey Saph," Eithen says as he sits next to me at a lunch table.
"Hi," I say as I take a bite of my burger.
"Hi, yeah I'm here too," Emi says as she takes a bite of her taco.
I roll my eyes and laugh. Halfway through lunch I see Connor sitting at a lunch table all alone and I smile at him. He always sits at a different lunch table all alone everyday and it's sorta sad but I know he does it for a reason. I look back over at him and see him stand up as he walked towards the door. I smile sadly when I see him place a hand in his coat pocket where he always kept his cigarettes.
I don't know he can stand those things, they are disgusting and just make you feel sick. I visibly shiver and look over at Eithen who was staring at his brother with a small sad smile. I reach under the table and grab his hand and give it a tight squeeze.
He looks over at me and smiles as well before giving my hand another squeeze.
Later, when we finish our lunch Eithen, Emi, and I all walk down the halls for free period.
"Hey guys," Eithen says as he puts his arms around both of us, "Connor and I are celebrating our birthday on the twelfth of october and we want you to come."
"Kinda early to invite us but sure Sounds cool," Emi says and I nod.
"But, isn't your birthday on the eleventh and Connor's on the twelfth since he was born like a few minutes after midnight and you were born before midnight?" I ask.
Emi stares at me crazily and Eithen just chuckles.
"You still remember everything about us don't you?" Eithen asks as another chuckle comes from him, "Yeah that's the case but we just decided to have a party on one of our birthdays this year instead of having two different parties."
"Alright," I say, "But I might need some time to think about it. Parties aren't really in my happy zone ever since, you know."
I look down sadly as I remember that one party with Conner and Eithen squeezes my shoulder.
"I get it," he says, "Take as long as you need to think about it, but just know you will always be safe as long as I'm with you."
I smile and nod. Just then the bell rings.
"I gotta get to class, bye, bye," Emi says and rushes down the halls.
I laugh and Eithen takes my hand.
"Shall we?" he asks in a posh voice and I laugh.
"We shall," I say and swing his hand as we skip down the halls like preschoolers.

"Come on Sophia, this could be like your chance to Get Eithen to finally kiss you," Emi says as we sit on her bed and look for good dresses online for the party."I know," I say, "But what if something bad happens to me again, ever since Conner Parties have been a big no, no and there will be smoking and drinking because I know Connor and what if police show up and-"
"Stop stressing girl," Emi says and rubs her temples, "God you're giving me a headache with all these scenarios, It will all be fine, I promise."
I flinch.
"You know I don't like it when people make promises with me," I say and look down.
She gets off her bed and walked over to her desk where I was sitting. She then encases me in a tight sweet hug.
"I love you Sophia," she says, "Just know that."
I smile and hug her back.
"I love you too, and I guess since it is Eithen and Connor's party I'll go," I say and Emi squeals and hugs me tighter.
"OH MY GOD!!!," Emi screams in my ear and backs away from our hug to look at me, " The party is a month away, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH YOUR MAKEUP?!?!"
I groan and slam my face into a pillow.
