Chapter 43

September twenty-seven, 2007,

It was really cold outside as Emi and I sat on her front porch. We swung along to the quiet music coming from her phone that sat in between us.

I may be a broken crayon but I still color. I may not be the brightest crayon in the box, but I still wonder... who is?

We hum the song lightly as the cold wind rocked us back and forth. I held her hand in mine as we sat in a beautiful silence.

"I think I see Connor and kai," Emi says and walk towards the edge of the porch.

"Are they holding hands?" she ask and shakes her head, "Nu, uh not on my watch."

She cups her hands over her mouth and directs her voice towards Connor and kai who were only 100 feet from her front yard.

"PDA!!!" She screams.

I see Connor smirk lightly and he grab Kai's face just before he dips him into a kiss. When they emerge from their. . . scene, Kai's face goes incredibly red and Emi applauds.

"Hey Queen," Connor says as he gets to the porch.

"Hey love!" Emi says and blows him a kiss as she sits back down next to me.

Connor walks over to us and sits down in between us. I struggle to hold back laughter as he sits on Emi's phone. He leans over and kisses both of our cheeks and Kai stands in front of us staring at Connor with a soft smile. I smile when his eyes catch mine. I wave lightly and he gives me back a little shake of his hand and looks back over at Connor.

"It's been too long darlings, shall we chat sometime?" Connor ask.

"I don't know why you don't join drama Connor," Emi says with a small smile, "You're really good at acting."

"Oh I know!" Connor shouts, "I had all of y'all fooled that I was straight for the longest time!"

I silently tense up and look down at the ground.

"Ha! Not me!" Emi shouts back, "I knew from the second I saw you when we were five that you Sir, were gayer than the rainbow itself."

I stay tense and see Connor look over at me in the corner of my eye. He probably realizes that I'm not quite into this conversation because of what happened That night.

"Alrighty well, Kai is probably freezing his balls off, I know I am," Connor says and I smile slightly, "So TTFN, Tata for now!"

He hops up and grabs Kai's hand. We both laugh lightly and yell bye to them as they start back down the road.

"So what shall we do now?" I ask and turn towards Ema who was looking at her phone in disgust.

"His butt was on this," she states and visibly shivers, "How about get me a new phone?"

I laugh and raise and eyebrow at her.

"Perks of being a Wallflower?" I ask and don't even have to wait for a response as Emi shoots into her house.

I laugh and run in behind her and she sits down on the ground in front of her TV as I put the movie in.

We stay there for the next three hours fangirling over that movie and occasionally talking. Once the movie is over we decide to walk down to the local store and get a mountains of junk food. The second we walk in Emi runs towards the counter where all the bakery treats are and stuffs her hands with them.

I look over at her questioningly and she just smiles brightly at me. After choosing some bags of chips we walk back home and and eat all our junk food as we sit on the floor of her kitchen and scroll through our phones.

Eventually I have to go home so I stand and kiss Emi's cheek before walking back down the road, humming lightly to a song stuck in my head as I smile and think about how lucky I am to have her. I could never live without her.
