Practice for the musical starts up a few days after we're cast.
Practice is two nights a week, every Thursday and Friday, and I take it upon myself to drag Ema to practice every day after school.
Her mood did brighten immensely, however, when we both found out that Nolan was actually on the cast as well, but that only meant more teasing on my end whenever he so much as breathed in the same room as her.
Cathy's Crush, Jackson, was cast as well as her, and I had a hoot seeing the two of them becoming blushing messes whenever we went to practice.
I then took it into my hands to hang out more with Nolan and Jackson, and eventually, we grew a mini group of the three of us along with Emi and Cathy.
Then, my date with Conner came up.
August Eighteen, 2006,
I rush around my room, dodging a frantic Emi as she shoots past me and practically dolphin dives into my closet. I open and go through all the drawers in my nightstand before standing and screaming in frustration when I don't see it.
"Where is it!?!" I scream, racking my hands through my hair and tugging on the ends nervously.
Emi had come over an hour ago when I called her in a panic. My date with Conner is today and I have no idea what to wear or do for anything. Thanking God above that he sent me such a fashionista friend like Emi, I called her over and she immediately showed up on my doorstep in almost five minutes.
However, once she showed up we both agreed to get my make up done first, but we both freaked once we realized that my makeup box was nowhere to be found.
"How could it have just disappeared like that?" Emi asks incredulously as she throws some boxes around in my closet.
"I don't know," I whimper and groan as I look around my now destroyed room with worry.
He's supposed to come pick me up in 45 minutes and I have no make on, and I'm not even dressed!
Wait. . .
"Emi!" I scream and she rushes out of my closet holding one of my sneakers tightly in her grip.
"What is it, did you find it?!?" she quickly asks and I shake my head.
"No, I don't know what to wear," I cry out and run past her and back into my closet.
I then start to throw different assortments of clothes off their hangers left and right, looking for the best outfit that could work.
My eyes scan the different colored articles of clothing and my heart deflates as I stare at my crummy wardrobe.
"Oh, that's easy, just text him and ask him," Emi says as she walks up behind me and lifts a stained T-shirt from the ground and sniffing it, "Gah, when was the last time you washed your clothes?"
I ignore her question and throw another black T-shirt over my shoulder. Seriously, why do I have these many black T-shirts?
"I can't do that! I'm too awkward and I'd surely cause him to call off the date because I'm making such a big deal about it," I rush out and throw an old pink sweatshirt over my shoulder.
"Hey!" Emi yelps as she gets pelted by clothes and I hold up a red dress to my body before cringing.
"Too slutty," I say and throw it on the ground before continuing to search for the perfect outfit.
"Where's your phone?" Emi then asks and I groan in exasperation.
"On my desk charging, but why would you nee-OH NO YOU DON'T!!!" I screech once I realize what her plan is and quickly stand from the little dome of clothes that I had made around myself.
