June thirtieth, 2007,

I stood in my bedroom packing a bag for the sleepover i'm having with Emi tomorrow. I am finally turning 16!!! I am so excited and so is Emi, who won't shut up about how I can finally drive. But yeah I share her excitement, I'LL FINALLY BE ABLE TO DRIVE!!!

I zip up the suitcase and walk over to my bed and sit down. Just then someone knocks on the door.

"Come in!" I say as I flip through a book I was reading.

My dad steps through the door and he smiles when he sees me. I smile as well and raise an eyebrow.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"Grab a coat, we're going out," Dad said.

I nod questioningly at him and he leaves the room. I quickly pulled my black jean jacket over my pink and black floral shirt. I place on my new black boots and tuck my dark washed skinny jeans inside of them.

I grab some "just in case" money and rush out the door. I step into the car and smile at my dad as he turns on the radio.

I nod my head along with the music and tap my hand lightly on my knee. I look out the window and smile when I see all the different trees and buildings passing by.

After driving for around fifteen minutes my dad parks in front of the now closed Eric's Pizzeria.

"What are we doing here?" I asked. (Happy Dylan?)

My dad just silences me with a finger and smiles brightly. We both stepped out of the car and I walked with my dad towards the door.

"Here," my dad says, "Take this and try."

He hands me a small golden key and my eyes widen.

"You, you," I struggle to speak with a smile spread across my face.

"Just try," my dad taunts.

I quickly stick the key in the door lock and turn it until it makes a small click-click. I slowly push the door open and walk inside. It was dark so I flip some light switches on and watch as the place comes to life. Only the tables, chairs, booths, and a few special things like an oven and mixing pot were left.

I turn around to see my dad smiling at me as I jump on the balls of my feet excitedly.

"YOU BOUGHT ERIC'S!?!" I finally scream and my dad nods.

I quickly rush over to him and hug him tightly before letting him go and rushing around the place.

"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh" I continue to repeat that as I run around looking at everything.

Then suddenly I stop and take my phone out of my pocket. My dad looks at me quizzically.

"I HAVE TO CALL EMI!!!" I scream and rush around as I dial her number.

I hear my dad chuckle in the background and a smile that reached ear to ear was plastered on my face permanently.
