Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Everything suddenly stopped as I stared at the men fighting. It has to be a coincidence right? The memory of him entering my room frightened me. He was tall yet muscular and I could still hear his accent.

"LANA!" Miranda yelled bringing me back to reality. I blinked rapidly seeing Miranda dragging her mother to the car.

"Get the hell out of here!" the bouncer yelled as I turned to see him kicking the guy.

The guy wiped the blood from his mouth then looked at me. He still had the audacity to smirk as he straightened his posture then ran away. The sudden urge to follow him and ask him questions grew in the pit of my stomach.

"LEAVE US ALONE!" I yelled as he glanced over his shoulder to look me.

I watched as he ran then turned the corner right into the alley. What the heck is he going to do in there?

"Kid get out of here it's dangerous." The bouncer said motioning with his hands.

I thanked him then spun around. I ran to the car where Miranda was helping her mother into the backseat.

"I'll drive."

She nodded as she got in the back with her mother. I got in by the drivers seat and started the car. I quickly drove out of the city wanting to get out of that horrible place.

"Who the hell was that?" Miranda demanded.

I looked up into the rear view mirror to see her sitting in the centre while her mom was fast asleep on her chest. I shrugged then looked back at the road.

"No Lana. The way you looked at that guy...like you've seen him before." she pointed out.

"He was the one who was in my room." I mumbled.

"WHAT?"

"Calm down okay." I sighed really getting tired of this.

"No I will not calm down! You have to tell your dad. He can help Lana." She stated causing me to roll my eyes.

"Either you tell him or I will." She added.

My eyes widened thinking of all the questions dad would ask since he doesn't even know that one of James men was in my room. He doesn't even know that I was at the cottage that day.

"Fine I'll tell him." I sighed.

"Good. Thanks by the way." She murmured.

"No problem." I mumbled as we drove in silence trapped in our thoughts.

...

I stared at my dad's office door debating on whether I should go in. I could just tell him that Miranda and I saw one of James men in the city. Not the whole room thing. Christmas is in a few days so rather tell him now than when it's Christmas or New Years.

I opened the door to see my father behind his desk. He was so focused on going through papers that he didn't even notice me. He then stood up and grabbed his jacket.

"Dad." I spoke making him look up.

"Lana hey. How was the sleepover?" he asked as he put his jacket on.

"I-it was good." I mumbled as I looked down.

"But..." he trailed off. I let out a sigh as I looked up. I shut my eyes then began to speak.

"We were in the city and I saw one of James men." I admitted. I slowly opened my eyes to see dad squinting his eyes at me.

"What? How?"
