Chapter Thirty Six: Happy New Year

"Hey Blaine, I know this is like my twentieth message in the past five days but you said you'd call and you haven't and I'm really worried. Please just, call me to say you're okay. I love you." Kurt sighed, hanging up after being sent to voicemail again.

"Kurt, door's for you." Burt called and Kurt ran down the stairs, expecting Blaine.

"Oh, hey guys." Kurt said, disappointed when he saw Rachel and Mercedes.

"Hey Kurt." Rachel smiled. Kurt hadn't told anyone about Blaine not speaking to him at all for almost a week.

"What are you guys doing here?" He asked.

"We're all supposed to get ready together and then go to Quinn's party, remember?" Mercedes asked.

"Oh right." Kurt nodded. "I'm actually not planning on going."

"Kurt! We've had these plans since we were invited." Rachel said. "You wanted to go because Blaine thought it was a good idea."

"I don't think he's going now." Kurt said.

"You don't know if he is?" Mercedes asked. "What are you telling us white boy?"

"I don't know because I don't even know if he's okay." Kurt sighed. "He hasn't talked to me since he left a couple days ago. I have no idea what's going on."

"He hasn't talked to you?" Rachel exclaimed. "What happened? We need details."

"Nothing happened. He had an outburst, said he'd call me, and he hasn't." Kurt said.

"Do you think something happened to him?" Rachel asked.

"I don't know!" Kurt exclaimed. "Why is it so hard to understand that he hasn't spoken to me in days?"

"I'm sure you'd know if something happened to him. Maybe he just needs some space. I mean, boy's gone through a lot." Mercedes said.

"I'm just nervous." Kurt sighed.

"Hey, why don't we go to this party to get your mind off him?" Rachel asked.

"I don't know." Kurt said. "Maybe I should just stay home with my dad."

"Come on Kurt. It'll be fun." Mercedes said.

"If I come... No one talks about him okay? We're acting like he doesn't exist for the night." Kurt said.

"Whatever you want Kurt." Rachel nodded.

"He's a boy. Boy's are idiots Kurt." Mercedes added.

"Thanks Cedes but I'm also a person of the male gender." He pointed out.

"Whatever. He's still an idiot." She said.

"So what are we even going to do at this party? You do know I hate parties. The only reason I went to any was because Blaine wanted to go." Kurt said, flinching. "I mean, he wanted to go."

"Okay definitely no B word today." Rachel nodded.

"We'll probably all get wasted and watch the ball drop." Mercedes said.

"Because that's exactly what I want to do with my New Years." Kurt said sarcastically.

"It is." Rachel nodded. "We promise it'll be fun."

"Fine. I'll do whatever you want but no one leaves me alone tonight." Kurt said.

"Don't worry about that, and we'll make sure you always have a drink in your hand." Mercedes smirked.
