How It Happened

SinB and Moonbin are best friends back in junior high. They were very close that everyone always teased them, yet, they were the kindest, softest, and sweetest student among their friends.

When they started the first day of school back then, SinB came up to him with just her usual, friendly attitude. Neither of them remember how and why they became friends that quick. But what they do remember for sure is that they were inseparable, no one has to try to break them apart because everyone wants them to be together. And yes, they were always teased by their friends nor teachers alike. This "unwanted attentions" drives SinB crazy that she was sick of it. She felt absolutely uncomfortable, worse, she doesn't even know why. She always went home crying to her mom. Her mom then advices her to talk to the mentor.

The next day, she went up to her kind and loving mentor, telling her everything she felt and sobbed throughout the conversation. Her mentor, after hearing her story, told her to try to not talk to Moonbin for a whole week. Of course, this surprised young SinB, because it was obviously something different for her to do. It was something new and she also knew that it would be really really hard, but she agreed anyway and do as she's told.

On the first day, she succeeded. She ignored Bin when he greet her in the morning. This sets a confusion on his face and tears flowing on her cheeks.

On the second day, Bin went to SinB, brought her a meal, and sat down next to her. But as he sat down, she quickly stood up and ran off. Bin was embarrassed but mostly felt bad, confused and thinking "what did I do wrong?" But then he hoped that she would be alright the next day.

The third day came in. He tried to greet her again in the morning but just like the first day, she passed him. Bin thought it was the end of their friendship and he was legit upset. Just when he lost his hope, SinB called him to talk at lunch time. He was so relieved but still worried that there might be something serious behind her best friend's attitude since the past few days. They sat down at the school's front stairs (author's school has two stairs, one in the front near the entrance of the building, and the other one in the back near the students' lockers), it was their fav place since the first 2 weeks of school. She took a really deep breath and exhale loudly before she spoke out everything that has made her best friend so confused and worried. When she was ready, she told him everything. He listened to her words, trying to get it all in his head. But when she said that she was embarrassed being teased by their friends, Bin frowned. He was upset but after knowing the reason why, he gets even more upset. Then, he realised that SinB was about to cry and he already could hear her hoarse throat, so he said,

"Don't keep this all to yourself. This is our problem, my problem too, okay? I definitely know how you feel, because I also feel the same way. So, please just- tell me. Alright?"

Until today, SinB (and the author) will forever always remember those words that came out from his mouth. She expected him to say something like "we'll go through this together." or "it's a part of growing up being treated like this" or also "they're just kidding, come on." or anything that sounds more wise and encouraging. What he said is not encouraging, more like comforting. Either way, she felt her heart beat normally and warmth went all over he body. Then she looked at him in the eye. She felt more warmth when she looked into his gentle and wonderful eyes. Finally, she bursted out crying. She apologised to Bin as she covered her face and sobbing. Bin comforted her again, tapped her shoulders lightly. He felt like he wants to hug her tight and kiss her forehead, but he hold his self back.

Things went back to normal and a year pass by. SinB and Moonbin still went to school without missed being teased by their friends for walking together, talking together, to eating together. One day, SinB was having a lunch with one of her junior, who happened to be her cousin and Bin's classmate at kindergarten. Her cousin told her that Bin has feelings for her. She was so surprised that she choked on her yogurt. She didn't believe it but her cousin was very sure about it because she had a proof, a screenshot of Bin and her cousin's conversation. She read all of them and she still didn't believe it, so after she finished her lunch, she parted from her cousin and looked for Bin. She found him, teasing a friend at the basketball field. She called him and he quickly went to her.
