Chapter 8

When I walked into Professor X’s office I knew that there was a problem. Helena and Professor’s eyes fell on me. They had clearly been in the middle of a conversation.

“Sean,” Helena said sounding her normal snappy self, “about time you get here, and what happened to your hair?”

“I went for a swim,” I replied calmly, “and I just got the message that the Professor wanted to talk to me.”

                “Yes, I do,” he said.

                “What about?”

                “About Breeze.”

My heart skipped a beat. The look in his eyes told me that whatever he had to say could not have been good. He looked worried.

“Calm down,” he said to me. “It’s not horrible.”

“But it’s pretty bad,” Helena put in.

“Sean,” Professor X sighed, “don’t trouble yourself just yet. Helena, shut up.”

She gave a sly smile before sitting down on one of the two chairs in front of Professor’s desk. I went over and sat in the other one figuring that this was going to be a long chat and because my legs were slightly weak. I had seen this coming ever sense Professor X found that lock on her mind. That thing he couldn’t reach.

“Yes, that is what this is about,” he said. “I will start with saying that your friend is not what she seems.”

“You couldn’t have picked a worst time to tell me this,” I sighed thinking about the kiss from earlier, but then quickly tried to forget it because Professor X or Charles was sitting in front of me but it was probably already too late.

“I figured,” he said with a small smile.

                Yup, too late.

“What’s happened?” Helena asked. “Sean would you please announce what you are thinking.”

“No!” I retorted. “I already have him in my head I don’t need you there too.”

Before she could argue Charles said; “Let’s get to why we are here. Breeze. I am afraid to tell you Sean she is not who you think.”

“She is Breeze Elizabeth Helguard,” I almost yelled. “She is one of my best friends. How can you say I don’t know who she is?” My stomach knotted. I was panicking. If this girl wasn’t what she has been for the last few months…she was the only normal thing I had.
