Chapter 20:
~Helena~
I waited uneasy in our room. Breeze was not back from her training with Erik yet and it had been over an hour sense I got back. I hated that they separated us. I would rather be by my sister’s side. After so long of being away from her and thinking her worst than dead it was comforting to have her next to me. I was given a second chance and I wasn’t about to let it slip through my fingers.
The door opened and I jumped to my feet.
“Let go of me,” someone shouted and then Breeze fell into the room. The door then slammed shut.
That was odd. I had never heard her voice so forceful.
“Breeze,” I said walking up to her. “Are you okay?”
She jumped to her feet and held her hands up like she wanted to fight. Her eyes were glowing with anger. It wasn’t right. This was not Breeze. I didn’t know her that long, but I still I knew that she was a soft kind soul. There was no way she would go to attack me.
I put my hands up in defense. “Hey, Breeze calm down,” I said softly. “I just wanted to check on you.”
“Who are you?” she hissed. “And stop calling me Breeze. My name is Julia.”
I raised an eyebrow at her. “Well Julia my name is Helena.”
She froze. Her hands went down and she studied me. “I thought you were dead.”
Her eyes then got angry again. My cheek then stung from her hand slapping across it. I stepped back, slightly shocked. This was not Breeze.
“Where have you been?” I yelled. “It has been years! You ran out on me! How could you? You were the only person I had and you just left! Do you know what I have been through? Why did you run out on me, sister?”
Her voice cracked at the end and she fell to her knees. I watched in horror as her eyes filled with tears.
“Julia…I…I don’t know what to tell you,” I said softly. “What I did was unforgiveable. Julia I am very confused right now though, just a few hours ago you were my good friend Breeze and know you are Julia in Breeze’s body.”
“We are the same person,” Julia sobbed. “Breeze doesn’t know it, but I am inside her. I know about her, but she doesn’t know about me. Also we don’t share the same memories. I know she had a good life, but me.” She let out an uneasy laugh. “My life is hell and anytime I misbehave or displease then I am turned back to Breeze and put back in my coma type state."
My mind was spinning. Was this possible? Could she seriously be Breeze? A multiply personality. What had they done to her?
“We are going to fix this,” I told her, falling to my knees in front of her. “We are going to get you back to normal. Make you and Breeze one.”
She looked up at me. “What’s the point? No one cares about me.”
For some reason, even though I had no clue what was happening or if it was a trick, I knew this was my sister. She was the Julia I grew up with, but so was Breeze. I owed it to them both to fix them, to help them become one. It was crazy, but I had to help her, I just had too.
“I care about you,” I told her. “Right now I am a little confused, but give me some time to think and I will try to understand.”
She nodded, and got to her feet then she went over and sat down at the table we had in there. It was funny; she actually sat in the set Breeze had claimed.
“I need some time to understand to,” she said. “I do have a few questions though.”
“What do you want to know?” I asked sitting in my set across from her. “I will tell you anything. I owe it to you.”
“Where have you been?” she asked.
I let out a sigh. “I told Breeze about this. I ran away, spent some time in a orphanage, then ran away from there and spent a few years with a mutant group to survive.”
She nodded. “And Breeze…what is she like?”
I smiled softly. “She is kind, sweet, and caring. She is very smart, but at times can be a complete idiot. She is over all a good person.”
Julia let out a sigh. “Maybe it would be better if I just disappear and Breeze got to just Breeze.”
“No! Julia, no. You finally remember me and I’m not about to give that up.”
She looked up at me. “Then maybe I should be just Julia all the time.”
My eyes fell to the table. As much as I really thought that would be nice for her, Breeze needed to here too. I cared for Breeze and in many ways I need her. She helped me stay calm. Also, there was Sean to think about. He loves Breeze and I can’t just let her loose her even if he was completely annoying. He was less annoying with Breeze around.
“I wish it were that simple,” I sighed. “You see there is this guy and he and Breeze are kind of dating. Sean could not live without her, she keeps him sane, plus I can’t handle him when she is not around.”
“Oh,” was all Julia said.
~Sean~
We are all underground getting the jet ready. This was the place I had not taken Breeze. Under the academy was a whole other level. This is where we kept all our secret things, so pretty much everything Hank makes.
“So,” Scott said examining the jet. “Why is it so beat up?”
“Because,” I told him, “we got into a bit of a crash when we were trying to stop World War III.”
He nodded. “Interesting. Well what can I do?”
Alex walked over and handed him a blow torch. “Do as Hank tell s you and don’t get in his way, and I’m serious, don’t get in his way.”
“Got it,” Scott said.
The rest of the day we worked, well everyone, but Sapheron, who was off somewhere. I really didn’t know what her problem was. Why was she so against helping Helena and Breeze? It just didn’t make since to me.
“What’s wrong?” Alex asked me clearly seeing right through me.
“Sapheron,” I sighed.
Alex shook his head. “I really didn’t think she would act this way, but Sean you should know she really likes you.”
I turned my head to the side. “What?”
“Dude, she has a major thing for you, idiot,” he told me. “That is probably why she is reacting the way she is. She is hurt by your feelings for Breeze.”
I shook my head. “There is no way. She has known me for awhile and never acted like she likes me.”
“Well she does, but right now we have work to do so don’t focus on it now.”
I went back to the wiring I was doing, and tried to forget about my friend Saph liking me. She was my friend…how can she like me? It just didn’t make sense. I had even held her hand once at a movie, but she pulled it away. She was cute, but she…she wasn’t Breeze. She wasn’t the girl I needed back and would not rest until she was back to me.
