Chapter 25:

~Helena~

I woke up the next morning to Alex’s arm landing on my face. With a groan, I pushed it off, and then sat up. He was still asleep, with his mouth open, and his eyes closed lightly. A smile fell on my face, stretching muscles that had not been used for a long time.

Alex’s eyes fluttered open, and looked up at me. A soft smile formed on his face.

                “Well hello,” he said.

                “Hello,” I replied.

“How are you this morning?” he asked shifting his body a bit on the bed so he could look up without so much of a strain.

“Better than I have been in a long time.”

His smile widened. “Me too. You should see your hair. It looks lovely.”

“I bet it does,” I laughed.

“It got long over the past year.”

                I nodded. “So did Breeze’s.”

The smile on his face fell away.

“What is it?” I asked, my smile also leaving.

“Sean,” he sighed sitting up. “You should have seen him over the past year. He stopped eating for awhile. Professor X had me in a room with him to make sure he was okay, and he always shifted and talked in his sleep. He never slept straight through the night. I thought I was having a rough time, but he…” Alex shook his head in thought. “Helena, I was scared he might do something to harm himself. I had never seen him like that. It wasn’t like him. He kept mumbling about these dreams, something about Breeze being trapped and he couldn’t get her out, but she was calling for him.”

That troubled me. Dreams about Breeze being trapped? What if she somehow contacted him? Was that possible?

“Now she doesn’t know who he is,” Alex went on. “I hope he doesn’t lose it.”

“I sure he will be okay,” I said. “I mean, having her awake again is enough of a miracle for me, and having her near him might be enough of a miracle for him. Plus, I know that Breeze loved him, she told me while she was still…well still awake. Something in her mind will click, I know it. She knows me after all, and she hasn’t been around me as long as she has been around Sean.”

“Well may we should go check on them,” Alex said getting up and grabbing his shirt off the dresser. He slipped it on before looking at me. “Coming.”

I shook my head, but nodded.

The two of us left our room and went right next door. After knocking on the door with no answer, I did a quick trick I learned I could do over the last year and the door opened.

“Fancy,” Alex said with a smile.

I gave him a sneaky smile before walking into the room. When I looked at the sight before me, my mouth fell open. Alex had a similar reaction next to me.
