Chapter 12

~Sean~

My foot did not leave the gas pedal all the way to the Academy.

I couldn’t believe she was gone. She was taken right under my nose and now what was I going to do? What if they hurt her? I will kill anyone that harms her. This was my fault. This was all my fault. Because of me she was gone and it was possible I would never see her again.

Alex was waiting for me in the garage when I pulled in. He looked a bit shaken. When I got out of the car he walked up to me.

                “Hey,” he said.

“Hi,” I replied walking past him and towards the door. “Where’s Professor X?”

“He’s working on something and doesn’t want to be disrupted.”

I stopped walking. I swallowed my anger with a nod and turned towards the wall. My anger started building. My head was spinning, my vision was getting burly. I felt like I was going to explode. My fist came back and then I swung it forward hitting the wall. My mouth opened and a scream of rage escaped.

Behind me I hear breaking. Looking over my shoulder I saw the windows from the cars gone and their glass lying on the ground.

“Well,” Alex said taking his hands away from his ears, “looks like I am going to be fixing some windows.”

I rolled my eyes. “Shut up, Alex, please. I am tired of your smart remarks. Will you please just be quiet and let me think?”

“You know,” he said calmly after a few moments pause, “you aren’t the only one that lost someone today. True, Helena can be a pain sometimes, but I care about her and it is taking a lot for me to try to stay positive.”

“At least Helena has a hope,” I said through my teeth.

                “What do you mean?”

I looked at him. He really was an idiot. “Breeze does not have any powers. Helena on the other hand is one of the strongest mutants I know. She could survive it if anyone can.”

Alex rolled his eyes. “Helena would not let anything happen to Breeze. Even if they are together, there is no way she would let them harm Breeze.”

“What makes you so sure?” I asked a bit angry he would suggest Breeze was not in as much danger as she was in.

“I know Helena,” Alex said. “She is different than you think. I can tell you right now that I know, though she doesn’t show it, she cares about Breeze. It’s possible they are sisters.”

“No, it’s not!” I yelled at him. “She is a human! Why won’t anyone understand that she is a human and not one of us?”

“Because Sean,” he replied now yelling too. “There is something about her that is off. Everyone here sees it, why can’t you? Why does she have to be exactly what you want her to be? Because if that’s what you want then your relationship with her is screwed.”

“What do you know about us?” I screamed at him. I took a deep breath trying to calm down. I didn’t want to break anything else. “If she is what Helena says she is do you know how much danger she would be in? She will be hunted for the rest of her life.” I looked at my fist which was by my side. “We could never have a normal life together like humans can.”
