Chapter 13:
~Helena~
“How is it possible?” I asked pacing the room I was now locked in with Rave. “I mean she collapsed. I thought she was dead.”
“I had them put a drug in the air that would make her pass out,” Raven told me. “It was so that when she died, if she died, it would not hurt her and be so painful as dying from radiation poisoning.”
“Thank you,” I said then sat in the chair that was on the edge of the room.
I thought about when I looked down at her. She was so still she seemed to be dead, but then slowly Breeze’s chest rose then fell. When I had looked at Raven with a face I’m sure was full of question she told me that Breeze had a pulse.
After that some guys came in and took her away, but I was promised I would see her again. That was a little over two hours ago.
“How is Charles?” Raven asked.
“Hmm? Oh, Professor X, he is good I guess.”
“How is he handling a wheelchair?”
I had forgotten not too long ago Professor X was not in a wheelchair. “He seems to be handling it well, I guess. It doesn’t slow him down, I don’t think, but I didn’t know him before.”
Rave nodded. “Right.”
The door then opened. I jumped to my feet and three people walked in. Two were people I didn’t know and the other was Erik, without the weird helmet thing now.
Erik walked in while the guys rolled in a table type thing. On it was Breeze. She looked to be in a restless sleep. Her hair was now wet and she was wearing pajama type shorts and a thick strapped tank top. She was bare-footed. I wondered if she was cold like that.
“You may go,” Erik said to the men and then he turned to me. “She is perfectly healthy. We gave her a radiation bath to get it all off her and now she is good as new.”
My anger got the best of me. “You could have killed her!” I screamed.
“But we didn’t,” he said calmly. “And now we know for sure she is a mutant and she is your sister.”
I looked over at Breeze. She was Julia. My little Jules. My sister; my best friend. The one I ran out on…
“She could wake up soon,” Erik said before heading for the door. “Come on Raven let’s leave the sisters to catch up.”
The two of them left and I was alone with my sister.
I sat in the chair and waited. Time seemed to stop and mix up. I could not tell you how long I waited in that chair watching Julia’s chest rise and fall. I couldn’t believe she was alive, or that Breeze ended up being my sister. It could have been a day or five minutes, I could not tell the difference, but finally her eyes opened and she moved.
“Julia? I mean Breeze,” I said walking over to the table she was laying on.
She looked up at me with a dazed expression. “Helena? What are you doing here?”
