Chapter 21:

~Helena~

I looked at her body. The tears had already dried on my face. Why had I been so stupid? This was entirely my fault. I lost my sister again because I had been an idiot. What led me to believe I could actually protect her against all of the people here? It was stupid and I should have never done it. If only I had listened to the voice in the back of my mind.

“It’s time to go,” Raven said to me.

I nodded, but did not move my eyes from Breeze. She looked like she was asleep. I wished she would wake up and talk to me. Because of my stupidity I was felt alone with these people as a prisoner. There was no hope of escape without her, and I couldn’t die because when she was awake again she needed me to protect her. I was trapped until she was awake.

“Come on let’s go,” Raven said.

I walked backwards unable to stop looking at her.

In front of me was a large tank full of water. Suspended in center of the tank was the body of Breeze. Her long, red hair moved in the water and her body moved up and down slightly, but it was very slow. Other than that, though, she was completely still. Her arms were a few inches out from her side and her legs were straight out, even with her body. Her eyes were closed. She could be sleeping, but I knew better. She was in a comatose state.

“Helena,” Raven said, “come on, we will come back tomorrow.”

I nodded and tore my eyes from her. Raven then led me out of the room and back to my new room, which only had one bed. Raven left me and I laid on my bed. My mind flashed with what had led up to this horrible situation.

“Helena run!” Julia shouted at me.

“No way am I leaving you,” I replied.

My body stung with the cold of the wind. All around us was ice and snow. We had made it as far as outside, but then we were trapped by a whirlwind from one of the mutants in the Brotherhood.

“I can control the wind,” Julia told me, “just long enough for you to escape.”

“I. Am. Not. Leaving. You.” I snapped.

Erik and Emma walked out of the door we came out of. It led to a bunch of stairs, which then led into the underground place we were. The fact that Julia and I were able to find it was amazing.

‘There is no point in running.’ Emma’s voice exploded in my head. ‘We will find you.’

“Run!” Julia shouted at me again.

The whirlwind had lost strength. I guessed Julia was doing something. I grabbed her hand and started pulling her towards it with me. When the man that was creating it was in range I shot him with blue electricity and he fell to the ground. The whirlwind disappeared.

I smiled to myself. If any of them got near us I would sap them.

Metal flew at us, but I hit it with blue electricity as well and I found that I was able to control it. I sent it back towards them, with some difficulty.
